At the Shangai, Hisao is busy studying history. After trying to make progress, Yuuko shows up and is quite interested, and not wanting to shoot her down, Hisao decides to let her try and help. It turns out that Hisao is studying the Edo period, though unfortunately, Yuuko can't help because she specializes in European history. Hanako returns, and apparently she went walking around town. That's good. It's a sign that Hanako is living independently. Sadly Hisao can't talk with Hanako right now because he needs to study, and he also intends to write back to Iwanako.

It's interesting to me that Hanako's route is the only one where Iwanako's shadow looms over Hisao, and that Hanako is the only one who is willing to talk about Iwanako with Hisao. Hisao tries to write back to Iwanako but is frustrated with his inability to do so and leaves the letter in his drawer, which is probably for the best.
Hisao has to do some more studying but decides to make the time for Hanako. who is in her dorm room. They briefly stare into each other's eyes, before Hisao does something bold. He takes off his shirt in order to show Hanako his chest scar from his heart surgery, in order to show that he's willing to move on from his past and that he and Hanako have something in common on a more deeper level. After this, the two go their separate ways until the next scene.

I'm back in the city and I get an unexpected phone call from Hanako. I end up meeting her in a restaurant, and she got Hisao's number from Lily, to the surprise of nobody. Hanako only has 3 phone numbers, Lily's, Akira's and now Hisao's. Hisao has about 10, most of his being family, and two of which are Shizune's and Misha's. Those last two make sense, because it'd be exactly like Shizune to want to keep contact with Student Council members. Anyway, it's nice that Hanako takes such an interest in Hisao's life.

When Hisao asks Hanako if she's jealous that Lily has more friends, Hanako admits that she isn't and that she doesn't like people. Suffice to say, I ended having a "holy s-hit, she's literally me" moment upon reading it. It's nice to see her opening up to me despite everything she's suffered. After some time, Hisao leaves Hanako and asks her wait before getting her a silver flower keychain for her pink phone. She appreciates the gesture and she seems happier.

This next bit, I have mixed feelings on. It's nice that Hisao cares about Hanako, and I'm glad that he decides to ask Hanako about her life before Yamaku. Hanako obliges on the condition that Hisao tells her about his life pre-Yamaku. The two walk around the school, with their magical mystery tour ending in Hisao's room. Hanako strips naked, and I get to see her scars in all their naked glory. (She's far bustier than I anticipated, and her underwear is pretty large but those things are quite minor in the grand scheme of things)

I'm not too keen on the sex scene though, and the only good thing is that Hisao was considerate enough to use a condom. After that, the two gaze at each before going to sleep. Upon morning, Hanako has gone, though she returns to get breakfast for both herself and Hisao. The two then go to class, but Hanako's anxiety gets the better of her and she leaves class. Hisao, to his credit, admits that he doesn't really understand Hanako or know that much about her despite the progress he and Hanako have made together. He decides that he needs to talk to Hanako and break down the walls between them both.

Final Scene of Hanakos' route. Hisao goes to a park near town, having decided the situation is serious enough to cut classes for. He calls Hanako by phone to tell her if that he's there if she ever wants to talk. They decide to talk about the sexual encounter they had, with Hisao asking Hanako how he should interpret that. It turns out that Hanako only allowed it because she wanted Hisao to see her as an equal and not someone who should be pited and protected. Hanako admits that she felt that Hisao saw her as a useless person to be protected, a mere child who couldn't handle the world. For some reason, I briefly think about Cibryll and wonder if this is how she feels.

Hanako admits that she feared that she was losing Hisao, and thought he might be considering abandoning her in favour of Yuuko or someone else. She also admits that she had given up on friendship before she met Lily, and later Hisao. Hanako wasn't wrong about Lily or Hisao wanting to protect her instead seeing her an equal person. Lily spends time larping as Hanako's mom, and if Hisao goes full limerence for Hanako, he is rightfully despised by Hanako for white knighting her instead of letting her live life on her own terms.

Hisao and Hanako is really letting out their emotions. Hisao wanted to protect Hanako after her panic attack and was worried that she was rejecting him. Hanako reveals that she hates her birthday because she feels like a burden and that every attempt to make her feel better just makes her feel worse. Hanako breaks down crying, with Hisao comforting her. All Hanako really wanted was that someone loved her for who she was, someone who saw her as an multifaceted person rather than someone to be pitied and coddled.

After all the emotions are let out, they both decide not to return to class before going to town before getting something to eat. Hanako has one gift for Hisao and she's been wanting to give it to him. She goes up to Hisao and hugs him, and aw, that's really sweet of her.  Once the credits roll, I give a round of applause and realize that a picture that I assumed was fanart is actually official concept art.

After all this, I decide to reload my saves, go through any remaining dialogue choices and do the Chess and Slides scene before going back to Act 1 and getting the Slow Recovery scene (i.e pick all the routes that get you on the Shizune route, then when it's time to make the choice that unlocks Emi's route, pick the option that would start Emi's route). In this scene, I love how irritated Hisao is with Misha and Shizune after having to recover in the nurse's office. He can even bluntly tell Misha (and Shizune) to **** off, something which I found highly amusing.

The only things to do left are to fill up the Gallery (though as it turns out, you only need to unlock all scenes; none of which include the sex scenes to get the 100% picture in the gallery.) by going through Emi, Rin and Shizune's routes to get the sex images for true 100% gallery completion.
