Title: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Post by: Lunaris on 23 March 2015, 09:56:53
Yeah, talk about anything Yu-Gi-Oh! related here~
Be it the anime, the manga, the card game, or the video games (like the DS ones).

Though, given the small amount of members, it'll probably not get much attention, but it's better than nothing ;)

Pardon the double post but apparently Jack and Crow from Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds will be in a future arc of Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V. :o

Hopefully this is not a hoax. :D

Whaaaa.... Howww.... Whyyyyyy?????

Also is Arc V any good (cuz I watched ZeXaL and was mediocore for me and I lost hope for the anime. Also the Pendiliums turned me down, cuz I feel they completely ran out of ideas.)

I haven't seen ARC-V yet, sadly (just going from what I read online; I was reading the ARC-V page at the Yu-Gi-Oh! Wikia), but it's very, very darker than ZEXAL was. So, probably?

Spoilers ahoy.
(click to show/hide)

So... yeah. It might be good, or not.
Depends.

Post by: alfasketer on 23 March 2015, 17:44:49
OK. I remember ZeXaL being too kid frendly and now this sounds... too dark. That's the first thing that came to mind however. Maybe it's good. I can't judge the book by it's cover.
Title: Re: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Post by: Dianke on 23 March 2015, 20:50:55
ZEXAL itself gets dark at times.

Sure, it starts out not being dark, but at about episode 40, things change.
The first few episodes of ZEXAL II seem to be similarly not dark, though Yuma is aware of the threat of the Barian World.
Then, during the sixth arc, many souls were sacrificed during the Barian Emperor Onslaught.

It started out mediocre for me, but as it went on, I kinda got rather interested... :-[

There's also been an episode where someone attacked Yuma with a rocket launcher (though that was a case of mistaken identity).
Episode 15 has statue versions of famous monsters like Dark Magician and Blue Eyes White Dragon.

And then there is a monster whose summon sequence involves no less than three explosions - a wormhole (which explodes), another wormhole (which also explodes), and a galaxy (which also explodes). That monster is Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon.

The final antagonist has a monster (Number Ci1000) with 100000 original attack and defense points, with an effect that forces one to attack, or else lose the duel.

The current highest attack point total record? 204 000.

And there is a duel on the moon at some point.

Talking about overdoing from the second season of 5Ds I feel like their way of making a duel epic is to throw a monster with a **** ton of ATK instead of having many twist and turns thanks to spells and traps. :/

Oh hey a Yu-Gi-Oh! thread nice :D

Kinda wonder if Rank 13 Monsters will be an actual OCG/TCG thing, or if those will be ranked-down to Rank 12?
(click to show/hide)

Personally, I'd like to see a duel in the anime where:
... Yeah, that's just me though~

Anyway, what would your perfect deck be?
(Whether it's canon or fanon cards wouldn't matter, IMO; creativity is a thing after all. :P )

Title: Re: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Post by: Shane on 26 March 2015, 21:20:54
Um. Thanks, Serena, Dianke, spoilers. :P

So, I have to get up at 7 AM (GMT+2) on Saturdays and Sundays since that's the time Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL currently airs at, in South Africa.
I missed Sunday's episode (due to a power outage from ~2:57 AM to ~9:57 AM), but Saturday's episode was basically things like dueling while skydiving, if I remember correctly.
I do remember a Barian ending up on Yuma's side for a Tag Duel (Shark was intended to be his ally, but he left), and they won against two Barian-controlling duelists (Tori and Cathy).

As for "perfect deck", it'd probably exist mostly of fanon cards of my own imagining.
With various monster types - Normal, Effect, Fusion, Ritual, Xyz and Synchro (even though I don't know how to Synchro Summon or Xyz Summon, unless the anime is correct with its Xyz Summoning), but not Pendulum Monsters. (Too complicated.)

One Xyz Monster would be something like "Greek Letter Epsilon - Evening Timefrost Witch Evelyn" and it would have two "Evolutions" - a Chaos Xyz Evolution known as "Greek Letter Epsilon - Chaos Timefrost Witch Evelyn", and a Shining Xyz Evolution known as "Greek Letter Epsilon - Shining Timefrost Witch Evelyn". (I think the manga has Shining Xyz Evolution as a thing.)

The other Monster Cards would all be related to ice in some way. (If Ice was an attribute, my whole deck would be Ice-attribute.)

Using canon cards only, however, it'd probably be one of my IRL decks (though not with fake cards, instead using actual cards that exist). Either one with that yellow Sacred Beast card (I have a fake one which is Level 8 while the actual one is a higher level and has a special summoning requirement instead of just "tribute two monsters"), or one with the Egyptian God Cards (I have all three of them, though they're fake and I have a lot of "Obelisk the Tormentor" cards.)
Title: Re: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Post by: RKS on 27 March 2015, 11:08:18
Yeah, the ZEXAL manga has Shining Xyz Evolution as a thing, though thus far only Number S39: Utopia Prime (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Number_S39:_Utopia_Prime) and SZW - Fenrir Sword (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/SZW_-_Fenrir_Sword) fall under the "Shining" archetype - Number S39 is the only Shining Xyz Evolution while SZW is essentially a Shining Zexal Weapon.

My deck would be built around the Fire attribute.
Title: Re: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Post by: Alexis on 28 March 2015, 00:28:00
My fictional deck would center around "Greek Letter ξ - Syzx'quyl" or something ridiculous related to the Greek letter Xi. (If Shane can have a Greek Letter monster in his fanon deck, why not? :P )

It would be a rank 4 monster with 1600 attack points and 400 defense points. It would need two Fiend-type monsters to be Xyz Summoned. It would be a Fiend-type Monster, and Water-attribute.
Its effect: remove one Xyz Material / Overlay Unit (anime) to lose 800 Life Points; Life Points lost this way are added to one face-up monster's Attack Points if it is level 4 or below. If Syzx'quyl has no Xyz Materials left, it is removed from play and the controller takes damage equal to its original attack points. If its type is Divine-Beast or Fairy, or its attribute is Light or Divine, it is immediately destroyed.

DNA Surgery and DNA Transplant can change the type/attribute to Divine-Beast/Divine, right...?
I'm not much of a duelist, to be honest; essentially I'm new to dueling.
I know about the cards and such, but I don't know how to play the card game.

Otherwise, it'd be oriented around the Dark Magician cards. (If only the Xyz "Magi Magi ☆ Magician Gal (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Magi_Magi_%E2%98%86_Magician_Gal)"-like card was in the TCG.)

... if Yugi or Yami Yugi had an Xyz Monster related to the Magicians, I bet "Magi Magi ☆ Magician Gal" would be one of them.

EDIT: and the anime has someone jumping over lava now. Huh.
Title: Re: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Post by: Sonja on 30 March 2015, 02:51:57
I'd go with a LIGHT-attribute deck.

(We need LIGHT-counterparts to all the Dark Magician-related cards out there, in my opinion. "Light Magician" or "Light Magician Girl", or something. Unless I missed 'em.)

Yuya's mother really likes pets. (Six pets thus far.)
There's a duelist whose deck requires that there be no Traps or Spells in his deck (though apparently he has a Monster Card that allows him to activate Spells from his opponent's graveyard now). Crazy awesome? Perhaps; this guy also uses Synchro Monsters (and stands still, instead of going after Action Cards).

... I feel like a researcher. :o

What is it with "Grecian Letters"-based fictional cards?

Whatever. I shall just go with my "Burnett" Deck and leave it at that.

MONSTERSSPELLSTRAPSEXTRA DECK
Blazing Inpachi [x2]
Charcoal Inpachi
Darkfire Soldier #1 [x2]
Darkfire Soldier #2
Inferno
Jinzo
Lady Assailant of Flames
Legendary Flame Lord
Little Chimera
Magician of Faith
Man-Eater Bug
Meteor Dragon
Needle Worm
Red-Eyes B. Dragon
Spirit of Flames
The Thing in the Crater
Twin-Headed Fire Dragon
UFO Turtle
Ultimate Baseball Kid
Autonomous Action
Black Pendant
Book of Moon
Burning Spear
Giant Trunade
Incandescent Ordeal
Monster Reincarnation
Nobleman of Extermination
Polymerization
Salamandra
Sparks
Special Hurricane
Token Thanksgiving
Tribute to the Doomed
Upstart Goblin
Backfire
Magic Jammer
Negate Attack
Spiritual Fire Art - Kurenai
Trap Hole
Meteor B. Dragon

I suppose that deck would be weak, compared to decks nowadays... though, even so, this deck is helpful. (And fiery. And most likely GX-era.)

I always wanted deck build around archetype 0 or an archetype in which every monster have zero ATK and DEF and have really cool effects. Sadly thinking about it most of them will have effects similar to Yubel or King of the Skull Servants.

Ritual and Fusion...

I wonder if there's an Xyz + other monster Fusion? Or a Synchro + other monster Fusion?

Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste uses Dragon-type Synchro for a Fusion Material. For a fusion with Xyz I'm not sure.
Title: Re: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Post by: Shane on 05 April 2015, 19:24:19
Trying to Google "Xyz Fusion Monsters" results in exactly what you might expect: the Fusion Monsters like "XYZ Dragon Cannon" and related cards.
And Xyz Monsters, and VWXYZ, but nothing related to any Fusion Materials that are Xyz Monsters.

There's no rule, so far I can find, that says an Xyz Monster can't be used as a Fusion Material, though - if it meets a requirement such as being a specific type (such as Rock for Gem-Knight Zirconia) then it can be used freely as a Fusion Material. (Zirconia needs 1 "Gem-Knight" monster + 1 Rock-Type monster, for instance.)
Of course, as Xyz Materials aren't monsters then, they can't be used...

As for Pendulum Monsters, considering Yuya apparently has two Odd-Eyes related Fusion Monsters, I'd say it's possible. (Will probably be years before ARC-V airs in South Africa.)

Logically, this would mean that, as long as a monster meets a requirement, it can be used as a Fusion Material, though I hear/read there are cards that can't be used as such (mentioned on their effects).

Post by: RKS on 06 April 2015, 00:44:36
Xyz Monsters can be used as Xyz Materials as well, and I don't mean the "rank-up" stuff like Utopia and others have. It's possible to give Xyz Monsters a level, and so far, Yuya and Declan are dueling. Next Sunday, the duel continues.

Declan and Yuya... two Duelists... I may not understand Japanese, but I can tell this duel is going to end in an epic way.
And I only know about the duel by reading the Wikia pages...

Episode 50:

Honestly this is a great episode for Yuya. Pissed off by Reiji, he does something no other protagonist has done except Yusei. He tried to punch Reiji. It didn't work, but points for trying.
Yuya really shows how much stronger he's gotten. He was able to Fusion summon Rune-Eyes and Beast-Eyes at the SAME time while only having one Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon and nearly took down Reiji without any ACTION CARDS.

My most favourite are GX Duel Academy and WC2011
Title: Re: Yu-Gi-Oh!

The video games? I think my brother used to play those with an emulator, and I'm fairly certain Dianke broke the AI of Reverse of Arcadia with one of her decks in that. (Not the deck she posted on the last post of page 1.)

Me, though? I... don't think I've played a video game related to Yu-Gi-Oh! before.
Title: Re: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Post by: Dianke on 12 April 2015, 23:31:08
I have played all of the Yu-Gi-Oh! video games on the GBA and DS (via emulators, sadly).
Finished them, not yet though.

Serena's post (http://lunarshadowcs.createaforum.com/entertainment-general/yu-gi-oh!/msg627/#msg627) mentions two cards. I broke WC2010's AI with that - that Kessler (?) guy could not win, all he could do was draw and discard. Both sides of the field was full of cards...

A stalling tactic works creepily well, if you draw the right cards. :o

I played them in emulator too. I just remmembered that I was playing WC2009 too but never got around the fight with the clones(alpha, beta, gamma and omega I belive). Sadly the emulator couldn't run WC2010 for some reason.
Title: Re: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Post by: RKS on 13 April 2015, 08:42:05
DeSmuME can run WC2010, but there's a major issue in that, during battles, the game crashes (at least in the US version, not sure about other versions).
That can be rectified with an Action Replay code, according to Dianke, who says it might be the battle animations.

Googly-Eyes Drum Dragon (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Googly-Eyes_Drum_Dragon) may look weird, but it's powerful :o
Moreso in the anime, but that probably makes sense. (3000 ATK -> 5000 ATK in one turn. Um. That's even stronger than Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon...)

Post by: Lunaris on 19 April 2015, 12:11:51
For a monster with an one-time appearance in the anime (ZEXAL episode 090), such a monster is rather interesting.
And the duel is all because a robot (Orbital 7) developed a crush on another robot (Lillybot, a litterbot that lives with Yuma) and Orbital 7 thought that Yuma was mistreating Lillybot.

One of the more light-hearted episodes after the whole Barian duels against Alito and Girag, until things go to oblivion.

Astral Barrier (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Astral_Barrier) was a trap card that existed since GX...
Could Astral be based off of that card? :o

Shield and Sword (or is it Sword and Shield?) is a handy card. :o

Set a monster with high DEF but less ATK (say, 1900 DEF but 1600 ATK). If things go well, on the next turn, flip it face-up (if it is face-down), activate the Spell Card that switches its ATK and DEF (along with other monsters, excluding monsters summoned after activating that card), summon a monster with high ATK (1900, for instance).

Pretty interesting strategy, I would say... of course, if that breaks the AI then I have no idea. O.o

Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions, huh.

It's set to release in 2016 to commemorate the franchise's 20th anniversary.
It will first release in Japan during Golden Week (between April 29th and May 8th) with other territories receiving the film later in the year.

English teaser trailer: take that! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWdh-fujOb8)

According to TV Tropes, it takes place six months after the original manga.
Kazuki Takahashi is the executive producer of the film and is also in charge of the designs and the script, making this the first movie in the franchise with the direct involvement of its creator.
The characters were also redesigned to bring them in line with Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL and Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V's art styles.

...

The duel disks remind me of Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, to be honest.

[Equip Spell Card]
Equip only to an "Ice-Eyes" Xyz Monster. It cannot be destroyed by your opponent's card effects. Each time an attack is negated, place 1 Ice-Eyes Counter on this card. If that is not even the beginning, then will this not even be the end?

Letter Cards (http://vresunciraianruins.proboards.com/thread/1417/letter-cards), all with Greek letters.
Ellen van Zylle's first deck (http://vresunciraianruins.proboards.com/post/30545/thread) takes that up to eleven.
Michelle van Zylle (http://vresunciraianruins.proboards.com/thread/1516/michelles-fan-cards) has a lot of "Injection Fairy" fan cards, with a canon card thrown in.
Shane Neumann (http://vresunciraianruins.proboards.com/thread/1537/shane-neumann-fan-cards) has his own thread, as well.

The Dragon Riders character Lavitka Nástenka Neumann (http://vresunciraianruins.proboards.com/thread/1396/lavitkas-decks) has four decks.
Another character from that work, Glaice (http://vresunciraianruins.proboards.com/thread/1476/glaices-deck-main), has 144 fanon cards.

Overpowered? More like, über-overpowered. :o

What the absolute duel disk…

If those are the "normal" cards you guys can come up with, I worry about what the intentionally overpowered cards might end up like.

(Though there are canon cards that are overpowered as well, such as Number 1000.)

EDIT: well, would you look at that. I have my counted post.

Yuya and Yuzu get married, have a daughter named Kimu, who saves the dimensions, and that includes a Ritual Dimension, where Shen Yunaoimanu is the powerful duelist, partnered with Alufa Seketeru, a duelist from the Standard Dimension.

I concur.

Toons are also ultra-rare these days; I think only Pegasus uses them in the entire anime series?

Does anyone in the anime even use Spirit Monsters or Union Monsters? What about Gemini Monsters?

So, I duelled Bloom this morning; she used a Dragon deck, I used a Fire-attribute deck. On her first turn? DRAGON MASTER KNIGHT. That's 5000 ATK. D:

Her starting hand: 3 Blue-Eyes White Dragon, 2 Polymerization.
Her first Draw Phase? She draws Black Luster Soldier.
My turn, I set Big Eye. Her next turn, she plays Pot of Greed, summons Lord of D. and equips it with Black Pendant...

Needless to say, she won on her second turn (we played with 4000 Life Points, as in the anime). :o

True.

Just kinda embarrassing; a 19-year old being beaten by a 10-year old who constantly sings/says "flower dragon" :-[

... had it been June, a 20-year old would be beaten instead D:

... could PROBABLY be worse, though, right? :o

Ha!

The first five cards of your duel being Exodia and its pieces, that's like a zero-turn win (or loss, in my case).

Got sort-of even with those Destiny Board cards (first three turns).
Title: Re: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Post by: RKS on 16 April 2016, 17:35:36
... WHAAAAAAAA-- O.O

That... is significantly worse! D:
Against what Bloom got? There's still a defense (like Draining Shield - which, had Bloom not attacked, would've been my next card - and Enchanted Javelin and Negate Attack).

But all 5 Exodia cards? THERE'S NO DEFENSE I KNOW OF!
... Its effect activates from the hand, right?

Alexis Rhodes and Aster Phoenix (GX) and Kite (ZEXAL) will appear in Arc-V. Kite uses Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon, instead of his Photon Dragon; and Aster? He's a VILLAIN here. :o

Also, JACK MOTHER-F**CKING ATLAS apparently "Double-Tuned" (whatever that means) and Yuya DEFEATED him. Holy F**cking Shin Megami Tensei V's futuristic ninja great-great-grand-uncle. :o :o :o

"Double-Tuned" (whatever that means)
Double-Tuning refers to the use of 2 Tuner Monsters for Synchro Summoning a monster; Red Nova Dragon is one such monster. Yes, Red Nova Dragon requires two Tuner Monsters, rather than one.

Now this happened. A whole new Yu-Gi-Oh! movie. the movie is set after the events of the classic and GX. And so much Sci-Fi tech :o :o
With this as a thing (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Yu-Gi-Oh!_The_Dark_Side_of_Dimensions_Movie_Pack).

New cards include:
- Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Neo_Blue-Eyes_Ultimate_Dragon) (Effect Fusion Monster)
- Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Blue-Eyes_Chaos_MAX_Dragon) (Effect Ritual Monster)
- Berry Magician Girl (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Berry_Magician_Girl); Apple Magician Girl (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Apple_Magician_Girl); Kiwi Magician Girl (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Kiwi_Magician_Girl) (Effect Monsters)
- Dark Magic Veil (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Dark_Magic_Veil) (Normal Spell)
- Spiritual Swords of Revealing Light (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Spiritual_Swords_of_Revealing_Light) (Continuous Trap)
- Crimson Nova Trinity, the Darkside Cubic Deity (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Crimson_Nova_Trinity,_the_Darkside_Cubic_Deity) (Effect Fusion Monster)

There's also Lemon Magician Girl (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Lemon_Magician_Girl) and Choco Magician Girl (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Choco_Magician_Girl); the bold letters spell out "Black" ("Black Magicial Girl" is the Japanese name of "Dark Magician Girl"). Those two Magician Girl cards appear not to be part of that movie pack, though?

Didn't know there was a Red-Eyes Toon Dragon (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Red-Eyes_Toon_Dragon) though. Or a Toon Cyber Dragon (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Toon_Cyber_Dragon), for that matter.

Well, she uses them since the GX era with her Cyber Angels (I belive they are called.)
And yes... they are not used enough
And they are really easy to summon too.

Excluding waiting for the 2 proper cards

Better than waiting for 2 or more specific cards and polymerisation...

-who am i kidding, fusions are awesome!!!-

I tend to root for the bad guys of Yu-Gi-Oh! for some reason. Maybe it's because I want to see them actually win and someone else finally end their plans when they least expect it, though.

I think we need cross-archetype Fusions. Like "Destiny HERO" + "Gagaga" or "Odd-Eyes" + "Blue-Eyes".

Should be interesting, I believe.

As well as loads more Ritual Monsters; as alfasketer says, they're under-appreciated. Sure, we have Pegasus who had Relinquished, which is pretty famous or so I hear.

… I want Yuya to duel Pegasus now. Against a Toon Relinquished. Ooh.

Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS is the shortest series by far.

Now we're stuck with Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS, with Rush Duels and time works differently there. Their minutes have at least 66 seconds, I hear?

Yu-Gi-Oh! 8 should have a protagonist time-travel to take on all past protagonists, I think.

Anyway, Ritual Monsters are what I prefer to use in my decks.
It's helped me somewhat against Luna's Fusion Monster deck, Kim's Spell/Trap-only deck (I've lost thrice to that!) and Sarie's Synchro Monster deck.

Both terms only exist in the anime: D.A.S.S requires one Tuner Synchro Monster and two Non-Tuner Synchro Monster whereas L.O.A.S.S requires the user to be in the state of Over Top Clear Mind and requires a minimum of one Tuner Synchro Monster and at least two Non-Tuner Synchro Monsters as Synchro Material Monsters.
