Remaining on-topic:The first phase is simple enough, with only ricocheting fireballs. Fair enough, it's the prelude to the actual fight with Mother. The second form and the final form could have their sizes switched (unless Mother shedding her larger forms to become more dangerous is the entire point), and the second form could keep the fireballs from the first form along with the laser spikes, even using them in tandem as the fight gets closer to the end.

Baphomet also has a last-ditch attack at the end, but--Tiamat's attacks make great use of her environment such as the black tide that requires you to hide under the platforms or the various laser attacks that are a threat to the player. She doesn't seem to have any attacks where she crushes the player with her fist or lasers that richoet off solid surfaces, though its a very well designed fight.

She also has a spread shot that doesn't seem all that threatning unless you're far away from her.

Cibrylls will admit to liking the remake incarnation of Viy solely for those disintegration beams. :3The fight itself is fast paced, and the attacks are varied and a threat to the player. I've noticed that the front rocket boosters are only used as an attack once, detaching themselves from Palenque's ship once and hitting the ground.

Bahamut's another of my favourite bosses--So Kracko's cousin here has tentacles that aren't threatening in the slightest (its laser beam attack destroys the centre ones), has a large laser beam that can easily be dodged and exists to punish reckless players and its eye produces several bullets that can be dodged by moving to the side. From what I can tell, its low HP is to make up for how annoying it is to actually damage its weakpoint (the eye).

The track layout also matters--The 3D background effects and how Bahamut's attacks make use of them is visually impressive. The attacks themselves are quite simple, but the 3D effects do wonders in elevating Bahamut's attacks (such as the tidal splash and the energy orbs) so that they take advantage of the background layers.

Well, the rocket punch thing is only used when the stone mask thing comes off. That attack honestly gave me a lot of trouble--It's a very short fight, where the boss only has a few attacks. The sheer speed the player travels at is what makes the fight challenging, and allows Elmac to cover their weakness of being vulnerable when their mouth is open.

Huh, didn't expect mention of the classic La-Mulana version--Rock falls ensure that the player has to use the lower parts of the arena to avoid damage. The chain fist only aims downward but I suppose it'd be more of a threat if it could aim at the player's location as well. Sakit has an energy cannon attack but unfortunately lacks a laser beam attack. The rocket fist works, but Sakit uses it so late in the fight that it probably doesn't see much use.

* hissing intensifies *For a first boss, it works well enough. A simple attack that is dependant on position and increases with frequency as you near the end. Its a shame that it didn't incorporate something like the snakes moving across the arena every so often or even having them take up the top of the screen like the original La-Maluna. The music is also pretty decent, though the original version is better than the remake's in that regard.

The first phase barely has anything going for it because it dies so quickly. The second phase could be much better if it took place on the worms body, and maintains its blade and laser beam attacks. The last two phases seem difficult enough to be final boss material so they can stay unchanged.

Hel's lance attacks only seem to be a threat to more aggressive players, though most of her attacks are like this as well. Her energy orbs don't see much use after the early stages of the fight, which is a shame because more can be done with them. Giving them homing properties later on, and having them explode on contact with platforms would help with making Hel more of a threat overall.I--
The laser pillars I feel should also target the player's location rather than just the sides. Setting the sides of the arena on fire could also add more challenge so that the player has to actually do more than just use the side platforms. Lastly, her final phase doesn't even last long to be a real threat, which is a shame really. That said, Hel is a beautiful woman, though I'm probably just saying that because I like her dark hair.

Righto, Guardian #8, Echidna. Taken on eighth, and. Like.Its a very short fight. The attacks are great. Lasers and homing orbs to keep the player engaged and a bullet hell spread attack is interesting. Yeah, the tentacle/hand things will spawn enemies if left unchecked.The moving background is quite impressive. The blue fireballs seem annoying to dodge and would be better off as homing projectiles. The black saws, charge attack and laser beams are good though.
As for the rolling balls, I don't know if this is intended or an oversight, but.
They can apparently be blocked with the Angel Shield, and after being blocked, they lose the ability to damage you.

Then I'll bring out--Surtr having the bottomless pit in earlier versions sounds completely unfair and I'm glad it was replaced with the more thematically appropriate lava. The fight itself seems rather simple. Weakpoint is easy to target, and you can walk along Surtr's arms which is neat. Personally I think the arm crush attack should target the player's current location rather than the side to make it more of a threat.

Honestly, this guy is the one thing I hate about the Icefire Treetop (which has one of my favourite themes). (I do like the boss theme though~)
Then here comes--Not too fond of this one. The eye weakspots are reasonable, but the boss's attacks aren't really that interesting. The worst one is the red meteors which feel like a cheap way to make the fight harder without making the boss itself more challenging. Aside from that, it feels slower paced compared to the previous fights, which I feel make the other problems worse.

… right.I like the 3D effect which makes use of the background and foreground, probably because I think 3D effects are more impressive when done in 2D games/films. The boss themselves only seem to be vulnerable at set points, but though it doesn't seem to be as clunky as the first boss in terms of execution. It also has a background attack which I think is neat, though I've noticed it has a missile attack which doesn't seem to do much.

thoughts on boss themes that have variations depending on the boss's health, like in some sonic games?Its a great way of adding to the atmosphere to a boss fight, and clues the player in that they're nearing the end. Another variant is one where the boss theme itself is minimalist but adds more instruments once the boss is low on HP.

Another problem I have with Yu-Gi-Oh is that Ritual Monsters aren't as useful as you'd expect them to be. With the various overpowered fusion monsters and Synchro/XYZ/Link etc monsters you could use instead, why even bother with Ritual monsters?Ha! The orange bits are from Shellen's keyblade and they're cut off because if I had tried to crop them out, then Bloom's sword would've been cut off. I vaguely remember a duel on top of a plane in the original series (Kaiba versus someone?), the Turbo Duels (5D's and ARC-V; I think SEVENS may have had one Turbo Duel as well?), the train duel (ZEXAL), I think there was a rollercoaster duel (ZEXAL), and in ARC-V you could actually ride your monsters and destroy stuff in the actual area (just look at the Xyz Dimension after Duel Academy invaded). Dunno about VRAINS but as I understand it it's all in a virtual world.

If anyone sees this reply in the hang-out... I did quote and reply here, before moving this post to the appropriate topic...These creative projects are just drawings and concepts. I'm current focusing on a small black book which has bestiary entries for many different bosses. Style wise, it's a throwback to these bestiary books I'd create when I was younger with the addition of if the attack can be Countered/Guarded/Dodged. Some bosses are 2D, some 3D and some RPG types. The other ones are A5 sketchbooks with concepts for bosses/enemies or levels/dungeons.
Not exactly the best way to do this, but... best and bad situation...

* squawk *a) Now that I'm leaving CSTSF behind, my options have increased significantly. I'm heavily considering going into GBA modding starting with either MegaMan Battle Network 5 (the only MMBN game I've played), or Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland or Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. If I had the skills, I'd also mod either Digimon World: Dawn/Dusk or MegaMan Star Force.

... I thought there'd be more questions, but anyway.The Flower Dragon of course. When I think of it, I think Bloom Seymour and honestly if she had been real, I'd have loved to meet up with her and talk about her creations. As such, the Flower Dragon is my favourite for it reminds me of the memories Bloom and I shared together.

1) Are you a dog or cat person? Favourite breed?1) I like cats. They're adorable creatures that do their own thing and occasionally roll on the floor. The fluffy kinds (e.g Norweigan Forest Cat) are quite majestic. I don't like dogs though, they bark loudy and they often get into my space. On some level, I fear that they'll try to attack me.
