So apparently The First Descendant × Evangelion is a thing. What.Transformers had an Evangelion variant of Optimus Prime (https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Neon_Genesis_Evangelion), and Yoko Taro (of Drakengard fame) is part of the new Evangelion show. Anything is possible!
That is impressive.proof that old dogs can be taught new tricks!
Saw mention of a 92-year old Japanese woman going viral for winning an e-sports tournament of Tekken 8, becoming one of the oldest e-sport event winners ever. That is impressive.
Wow.
Oh. Sony apparently developing AI to censor games in real-time.This can only end in disaster. Much like Denuvo.
Looks like a lot of drama is going on, with people accusing the developers of Shrine's Legacy of using AI when they haven't. (Hell, that ChatGPT trash wasn't even around when they'd started.)I've seen that review and it's clear that it was a troll review that wasn't written in good faith. I wouldn't be surprised if people start accusing artists of using A.I for creating art they don't like much like they already do whenever people write something they don't like.
Things will only worsen at this stage.
Looks like that monster capture patent application thing Nintendo was trying tor got rejected by the Japanese Patent Office.I figured that Nintendo's patent wasn't going to work out considering that they're not the only creators of stories involving monster summoning/capture.
Seeing mention that their new owners are planning a pivot to AI, in order to significantly cut operating costs. So in other words, EA is going to end up bankrupt eventually.
Ugh.
Electronic Arts to be acquired by investor consortium trio for $55 billion!? (https://www.gematsu.com/2025/09/electronic-arts-to-be-acquired-by-investor-consortium-trio-for-55-billion)Huh, I'm amazed they're even still around considering their reputation.
Are you effing kidding me (https://nintendoeverything.com/nintendo-and-the-pokemon-company-pick-up-patent-on-summoning-a-character-and-letting-it-fight-another/)
Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have jointly secured a patent involving summoning a character and letting it fight another. It’s reminiscent of what we see in Pokémon games where players can send creatures out to battle.
A few days ago the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) approved the filing, which is for Patent No. 12,403,397. This also ties in with a separate patent (No. 12,409,387) related to the “smooth switching of riding objects” mechanism.
The thought here is that Nintendo is registering new patents or modifying others so that it can further combat Palworld. On top of that, it could deter other games from competing. However, the idea of summoning a character and letting it fight another could apply to many different titles that have already been released, and it could impact future projects as well.
The patent was actually first filed in March 2023. The USPTO then granted it this summer before issuing it last week.
This is happening against the backdrop of the legal battle brewing between Nintendo and The Pokémon vs. Palworld. After the game was hit with a lawsuit, Pocketpair implemented changes to Palworld, including removing the ability to summon Pals.
So, Steam's got this new rule disallowing games that violate rules and standards set forth by payment processors and card network, or internet network providers. And now this applies to itch.io as well, it seems.
Yeeaaahhhh, this could get dicey at some point, I think.
If the wrong people are involved, anyway.
And now it seems the FBI's taken down some of the Switch-related domains of the digital seas, as it were.Well, so much for those domains. Then again, it does make sense considering that Switch 2 is an expansion of the Nintendo Switch and therefore closely linked. So unfortunately Switch emulators aren't out of the woods yet and will have to wait a few more years.
And apparently people are already starting work on a Switch 2 emulator. Wow.Wow. People are quick. Here's to hoping that Nintendo don't DMCA them off the face of the Earth like they did with the Nintendo Switch emulators.
Wait, did Duke Nukem Forever even get early access releases? Not in that sense, though purchasers of the Borderlands re-release back in 2010 (https://www.gamedeveloper.com/game-platforms/-i-borderlands-i-re-release-to-include-early-access-to-eventual-i-duke-nukem-forever-i-demo) could get access to a demo of Duke Nukem Forever.
Wow.Is Yandev still at this? Even Duke Nukem Forever was released eventually and that game bombed. But hey, if Yandere Simulator does finally get released, I suppose that it'd still be less of a disaster than Mighty No. 9 turned out to be.
Yandere Simulator started development in 2014, and is just one guy and volunteers, yet shipping regular builds for early access and still in active development as of this year.
Meanwhile, Hytale started development in 2015, backed by Hypixel and Riot Games, and… after like 10˝ years, gets canceled with nothing released or even shown off.
YanDev being a better game developer than an entire team was not what I expected to read on. Like. Anywhere.
Based on that reaction, I assume this to be bad.Yeah, it negatively affects game performance.
And of course we have idiots buying Switch 2s just to whack it with a hammer, or subject it to other cruel misfortunes on purpose. :|Yeah, that PlainRock124 guy's the first person to be banned from Nintendo San Francisco, after that act of Switch 2 destruction in front of employees.
And the guy in question's been doing this to a lot of expensive electronics, for years, just to entertain people?!
I wanna pummel him.
Good thing that he's been banned from a retail store.
And of course we have idiots buying Switch 2s just to whack it with a hammer, or subject it to other cruel misfortunes on purpose. :|The guy must be pretty loaded if he's able to buy game consoles just to smash them up for views. Most people can't even afford to buy 1 console, let alone several.
And the guy in question's been doing this to a lot of expensive electronics, for years, just to entertain people?!
I wanna pummel him.
Good thing that he's been banned from a retail store.
So, Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles (a remaster of an old PS1 game) is gonna be using Denuvo.Based on that reaction, I assume this to be bad.
Ugh.
Seeing discourse on Persona 4 Revival already.Personally I don't care much for P4R because Persona 4 Golden already exists, and Persona 1/both Persona 2 games deserve the remake treatment far more, but I'm sure P4R might have some unique content of its own and that would be worth seeing.
And also people expecting Gen X of Pokémon to have the same visuals as Beast of Reincarnation.
It's gonna release next year and is not related to Pokémon.Considering how Persona 3 Reload handled its content, I think that Persona 4 Revival will likely be based off the original Persona 4 with all the Golden content being added as DLC. The final boss will probably have some alterations as well (perhaps Adachi will actually be a challenge this time?).
Also, Persona 4 Revival.
Game Freak's trademarked "Beast of Reincarnation" apparently. It's gonna release next year and is not related to Pokémon.
Not sure if this is Pokémon-related or an entirely different project, so I'm posting it in here.
* deliberately goes looking for spoilers *Be careful not to run into The Knight.
:3
Game Freak's trademarked "Beast of Reincarnation" apparently.Beast of Reincarnation sounds like the name of a Yu-Gi-Oh monster.
Not sure if this is Pokémon-related or an entirely different project, so I'm posting it in here.
And apparently, Yuri Lowenthal will not be returning to an unannounced Persona 4 remake as Yosuke; he's apparently asked, maybe even begged, but to no avail. It wouldn't be the first time that voice actors don't get to reprise their roles. Sean Schemmel tried to audition for Black Doom in Shadow Generations but didn't make the cut and Ben Diskin ended up playing the role instead. Things might end up differently regarding the Persona 4 remake (though considering Persona 4 Golden already exists, it does beg the question why Atlus want to remake Persona 4).
With that said, the post got deleted apparently (it was on Bluesky though so I can't access that anyway).
Apparently someone somehow got a Nintendo Switch 2 unit. That's new. I wonder if first-day patches are going to be a thing for future console developers to prevent content leaks.
And it's locked behind a first-day patch, so can't be used right now.
Yeah.Ah well, there's always Katawa Shoujo.
Like.
I'd have loved to give MiSide a play someday (along with DDLC which I never got around to because double hard drive failure) but after this, I'm thinking I'll steer clear from playing MiSide in my current life.
Apparently there was going to be a DDLC and Miside collab thing, but that's been scrapped due to some reasons. That sounds incredibly nasty. But then that's toxic fandom drama for you.
Most of which involve drama and stuff. Ugh.
The stuff I've seen on Twitter… let's just say that lines were crossed that should NOT be crossed. Including things like CP.
Ye. Gods.
And the server owner basically did nothing. Just said something would be done, and never did anything.
I know I was bad during the Aeonian Night days, but I definitely wasn't THIS bad.
It's out and apparently they somehow made it even worse lmaoIn other words, a glitchy mess that decides your computer must die because you are not a winner. Also gives achievements overtime via a sketchy program that might be malware and bonus content that doesn't really fix anything.
Okay, apparently Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing comes to Steam in the second term of 2025 (April to June). It's out and apparently they somehow made it even worse lmao
Hey guys, what're you--Congratulations, Cibryll! You've unlocked the Dog Ending.
* gets sneaked up on by silent hills and eaten *
;-;
Not to mention incomprehensible amounts of silent hills.Yes. The only thing scarier than Pyramid Head are the silent hills.
Wow.Extreme violence and sexual content?
Silent Hill f has been refused classification in Australia, and apparently it's therefore banned and can't be sold there--
What the heck's in that game that the game can't even be rated 18+?!
Okay, apparently Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing comes to Steam in the second term of 2025 (April to June).Considering its reputation, I expect nothing good. But suppose I'd be surprised if the Steam actually fixes all the problems with the original and ends up an actually decent game.
Apparently, Hideki Kamiya said that Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, Okami, Viewtiful Joe, and The Wonderful 101 are all part of the same universe.I've only played the first 3 Devil May Cry games and the first Viewtiful Joe game (the PS2 version, which also has Dante in it).
Out of those, I've only played the DS games (Okami and Viewtiful Joe) and didn't get very far--
Apparently, RPG Maker VX Ace is available for free on Steam, until 11 February. So, any plans to download it?
Oh wowOh yeah, the channel released its last video. Aside from that, Sakurai's yen was well spent considering that his channel serves as a useful resource for future game developers.
Apparently Sakurai hasn't monetized any of his videos and spent over 90 million yen on producing the channel?
Oh no.I guess its not ogre for the Shrek franchise if Dreamworks approved of this crossover.
Now there's a Shrek crossover with some PowerWash Simulator game.
Not to mention that there is also Ariana Grande in some or other Final Fantasy game.Oh yeah, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius had several playable variants of her. That aside, Shadow Generations will have a DLC level and will have Paramount Shadow, complete with Keanu Reeve's voice. (https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/sonic-x-shadow-generations-is-getting-a-movie-pack-dlc-featuring-keanu-reeves/)
Wha--I just remembered that Mario Kart 8 had DLC for a Mercede Benz (https://www.mariowiki.com/GLA) that you can use in races.
Fatal Fury, a fighting game, has gotten an unexpected guest character. Cristiano Ronaldo of all people. WHAT.
Wait SERIOUSLY!?… unofficially…
I thought December 2020 spelled the end of Aidan's returning from the dead or whatever. ;-;
By the command of the cybernetic lasses, all shall be digitized, so that this world may once again be pure and harmonious.… accurate cybernetic lass goal…
"Pure and harmonious". Knowing the internet, I'm sure that it has other plans.Bloom Beasts often do--
By the command of the cybernetic lasses, all shall be digitized, so that this world may once again be pure and harmonious."Pure and harmonious". Knowing the internet, I'm sure that it has other plans.
Okay seriously WHAT THE HELLThese developers seem to think that discs are obsolete and that digital is the future. Problem with that is that once the content (exclusive or not) is inaccessible, you can't buy it anymore unless you pirate the game, which these companies are trying to prevent.
Physical releases are now becoming just boxes with codes inside?
That--
That's like making a book with only the spine and cover, and inside getting some or other code which you have to use to read the book online or something.
Completely defeats the purpose of owning something physically.
Also saw someone on blue bird complaining about a pride flag in a game (that they pirated). On one of the tweets of the creators, no less.
I--
Visions of Mana released yesterday.Ugh, that sounds like yet another odious business practice that large companies use to justify not having to pay their employees more than what they're legally obligated to.
And apparently NetEase is shutting down Ouka Studios, the team that had made that game?
For f*ck's sake this shouldn't be a normal thing.
Like seriously.
This (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2668870/Inverse_Ninjas_VS_The_Public_Domain/) is a thing. WTF.Huh. I remember this game appearing back when everyone was talking about (Steamboat Willy) Mickey Mouse becoming public domain.
Well this is just bloody wonderful (https://www.romhacking.net/).I heard about Romhacking.net going down. Such a shame too that I missed my chance to join but oh well, I might try ROMhacking for myself some day.
Wouldn't that imply that Aidan somehow manages to survive the events of Lunar Shadow X (unless the events in that story are no longer set in 2017)?I'll reply in another thread, lest this one get too derailed~ :3
Wait SERIOUSLY!?Wouldn't that imply that Aidan somehow manages to survive the events of Lunar Shadow X (unless the events in that story are no longer set in 2017)?
I thought December 2020 spelled the end of Aidan's returning from the dead or whatever. ;-;
… he broke out again…Wait SERIOUSLY!?
… he broke out again…Aidan has been a very naughty boy again. He'll have to go back on the naughty step for 19 minutes.
There can only be one reason Charlie is quite excited about that game.Women in thigh-highs?
Oh, Sigma Star Saga's coming to modern consoles and PC (https://wayforward.com/news/sigma-star-saga-coming-to-modern-consoles-and-pc).There can only be one reason Charlie is quite excited about that game.
Yay~
Oh, Sigma Star Saga's coming to modern consoles and PC (https://wayforward.com/news/sigma-star-saga-coming-to-modern-consoles-and-pc).I think I downloaded this game to my Nintendo DS R4 cartridge. Aside from that, I'm at least hoping that we'll get to see more of Shantae Revolution soon.
Yay~
Uhhhhhhhhhhh noI suppose it would be a missed opportunity, then.
Ah, yes, Bloomtown. No doubt the origin story for the first Bloom begins there?Uhhhhhhhhhhh no
Not sure whether it's a good source but apparently Discord's nuking Nintendo Switch emulator devs and servers (https://www.theverge.com/2024/4/11/24127545/discord-suyu-sudachi-server-shutdown-account-ban).I'd say I'm surprised, but at this point, I'm really not.
Wow.
Wow, this game (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2445990/Bloomtown_A_Different_Story/) looks pretty interesting--Ah, yes, Bloomtown. No doubt the origin story for the first Bloom begins there?
* sees the name *
Oh no.
* gets eaten by a Flower Dragon *
* gets eaten by another Flower Dragon *
* gets eaten by a third Flower Dragon *
* gets eaten by a whole lot of Flower Dragons *
… they're ordering me to play the demo. Joy.
Never mind that I can't download it at all because my PC hates Steam lmao
cat game (https://twitter.com/LittleKittyGame/status/1648723326536146944)In that case, have another (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1598210/Milli__Greg/).
Adding it to my library did nothing.I guess you're feeling pretty steamed about that.
Still can't download anything via Steam (which also crashed my computer and forced me to restart).Cibryll has been cursed to be prohibited from getting stuff from Steam.
Until 19 February of this year, RPG Maker XP is free on Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/235900/RPG_Maker_XP/).Adding it to my library did nothing.
Of course this would happen while Charlie does not have a working computer.
Of course, she has a vehement dislike of Steam in any case, so I suppose it is moot?
Well.Knowing the internet, there will either be backup copies or someone else will have already made an alternative to those emulators.
Looks like Citra and Yuzu aren't gonna be around now.
Oh well… what can a person do?
Hello yuz-ers and Citra fans:Well.
We write today to inform you that yuzu and yuzu’s support of Citra are being discontinued, effective immediately.
yuzu and its team have always been against piracy. We started the projects in good faith, out of passion for Nintendo and its consoles and games, and were not intending to cause harm. But we see now that because our projects can circumvent Nintendo’s technological protection measures and allow users to play games outside of authorized hardware, they have led to extensive piracy. In particular, we have been deeply disappointed when users have used our software to leak game content prior to its release and ruin the experience for legitimate purchasers and fans.
We have come to the decision that we cannot continue to allow this to occur. Piracy was never our intention, and we believe that piracy of video games and on video game consoles should end. Effective today, we will be pulling our code repositories offline, discontinuing our Patreon accounts and Discord servers, and, soon, shutting down our websites. We hope our actions will be a small step toward ending piracy of all creators’ works.
Thank you for your years of support and for understanding our decision.
Nintendo strikes again.I disagree with the stance that emulation itself is unlawful considering that most Nintendo games people emulate are ones that Nintendo themselves no longer make profit from. In this case, Nintendo are still profiting from Nintendo Switch games and are losing money, but even then it's only wrong legally, and that there is nothing wrong with emulating video games.
This time, Nintendo is suing the makers of the Nintendo Switch emulator, Yuzu (https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2024/02/how-strong-is-nintendos-legal-case-against-switch-emulator-yuzu/).
Neither.Ugh. I hate activation codes. Wasn't downloading the file already enough? But no, companies like Adobe expect you to have an activation code on top of already having to pay money just to have the most recent version of their programs. Thank goodness for being able to download free versions off the internet!
An activation code.
Let me guess: Either filesize limits or the program refuses to open unless you use "Run as Administrator".Neither.
We could never get that sort of RPG Maker XP to work, unfortunately.Let me guess: Either filesize limits or the program refuses to open unless you use "Run as Administrator".
Of course, if we could, Charlie would probably have started on her quest for fan game madness.
I suppose the point is indeed moot, because if you're willing to download old games off the internet for free, you might as well do the same for game making programs. We could never get that sort of RPG Maker XP to work, unfortunately.

… booth bunnies were best part…Someone knows where her priorities at E3 are.
It seems that the end has come for E3.(1996-2023)
No more E3 in the future, unless somebody decides to revive it in some capacity.
… exactly…So if Xyrinfe Shadow TRUE installed with Denuvo XIII creates a 1KB file, then surely you could create a weapon by putting 1,000,000 copies of the game into a .zip file. Aidan Flamberge will try to download this weapon onto his computer, only to accidently .zip bomb his home computer, much to Alexis's frustration.
… Xyrinfe Shadow TRUE will use… Denuvo XIII… to shrink game size to 1 kilobyte… :pWouldn't a 1KB game be completely unplayable though?
… but to add it 5 minutes before release… that is low…!SEGA adding such a thing in as a last second requirement is very underhanded yes, and it's not well liked by gamers not just due to anti-piracy measures but also because Denuvo causes performance issues with the game itself. Oh well, thank goodness for modders who will make it a point to remove Denuvo for the sake of modding.
… newest Sonic… supposedly added moments before Steam release…Sonic Superstars getting Denuvo isn't surprising because SEGA did that already with Sonic Mania, and that ended up being overcome by people who wanted to mod Sonic Mania.
… Denuvo is an abomination from a realm beyond hell…Ah yes, Denuvo. Has it been installed in yet another game?
I imagine @RKS might find this game (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1627890/Ants_Took_My_Eyeball/) interesting.Super Mario Bros Wonder getting leaked? No surprise there. And I suppose it's only fitting considering that it's rival game Sonic Superstars broke street date 2 days ago.
And to absolutely few people's surprise, SMB Wonder ROM has been leaked online (https://nintendoeverything.com/super-mario-bros-wonder-rom-leaks-online/).
Okay what the fok (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2319730/Winnies_Hole/)That game looks like tasteless dreck to me. God, at least when people were making the likes of Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz darker, there was some attempts to stick to the source material.
Is there like some trend in turning public domain stuff into pure nightmare horror fuel stuff?! X_X
Warning, that looks grisly and gruesome.
CAPCOM statement (https://nintendowire.com/news/2023/09/25/capcom-states-they-would-gracefully-decline-being-acquired-by-microsoft/).Good on Capcom for wanting to stay independant. Microsoft trying to buy them out would still be less embarassing for them than when they tried to buy out Nintendo. (https://www.engadget.com/microsoft-wanted-to-buy-nintendo-145746874.html)
Also the retiring of someone of Sony Interactive (https://sonyinteractive.com/en/press-releases/2023/new-management-structure-of-sony-interactive-entertainment-2/).
Wonder what's next in the gaming news department--
Oh yeah, Stardew Valley v1.6 is gonna be a thing sometime this century.
Holy fokIn response to Unity dropping the ball ****, Re-Logic decides to donate to two other game engine, both of which are open source. Hmm, I can respect that way of sticking it to Unity.
Re-Logic has donated $100K to both Godot and FNA, and an additional $1K every month--

This apparently also includes demo releases and pirate installs.Oh yeah, Unity is one of those big companies that really hate it when people pirate their stuff, much like Adobe. All the more reason to pirate them since they probably don't pay their employees very well and their programs are overpriced.
Like. Seriously.
Madness.
You have got to be kidding me.Oh boy! Capitalism. Much like university student debt, Unity is expecting people to pay them money once they hit certain revenue and install thresholds. As you noted, Unity users will likely start abandoning ship, and finding alternatives as consumers tend to do when they feel that companies are shortchanging them.
Unity introducing new fee attached to game installs (https://www.gamedeveloper.com/business/unity-to-start-charging-fee-pegged-to-game-installs)?!
* watches people abandoning ships *
We need to get rid of the corporate monkeys that harbour such voracious greed. You know Rachel means business when she's talking in full coherent sentences rather than in terse riddles.
… now on Switch… >:(It's not the first time companies have tried to punish people for piracy (e.g the constant firmware updates for the Nintendo 3DS to stop 3DS hackers), and it's likely that Switch hackers will end up cracking Denuvo, causing Nintendo to roll out updates to the Nintendo Switch to counter them.
Oh fok (https://irdeto.com/news/denuvo-by-irdeto-now-registered-as-authorised-nintendo-switch-middleware)Oh, it's **** Denuvo. Modding communities aren't too fond of it, such as the Sonic Mania modders just to name one example.
Key word being "no company".Some people make deliberately crappy media because it's funnier that way or because it's a parody of the original work. That and I'm sure that any company making intentionally bad products would probably be some elaborate money laundering scam or a group of con artists.
I mean.
It's completely possible a fan or someone with too much free time on their hands (*cough*Cibryll*cough*) to want to deliberately make something terrible.
Especially for April Fool's Day. >:3
And even more fun if it's actually NOT terrible and only advertised as such to mess around~
* explodes from the sheer atrocity of ideas building up inside my tiny little cat-shaped brain *
… rush jobs… always terrible… unless terrible is intention…No company would intentionally set out to make a terrible game, but unfortunately some games do turn out badly due to their developers being overworked and underpaid, crunch time being enforced in order to meet release dates and other problems that exist because AAA games cost money to develop and market, and if those games don't make enough money, then it's ensured that the game will be shelved due to lack of demand (real or perceived).
… corporate greed… oftentimes a part of it…
…
We need to get rid of the corporate monkeys that harbour such voracious greed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWdZhKFtxKgOh no, a game that actually raises the standard of what people expect from video games. It's almost as if several years of shitty, shady and downright corrupt practices (e.g "DLC" that is just content severed from the base game and hidden behind a paywall, Day 1 DLC and patches, free-to-play games, lootboxes and gacha etc) have completely desensitized gamers and have caused them to forget that video game actually used to be a complete, finished experience a decade ago.
And we're back with another exciting update with news from IGN (https://www.ign.com/articles/nintendo-direct-june-2023-everything-announced). Oh, I Guess Not, huh?So for the Super Mario RPG remake, I assume that Nintendo and Square Enix have finally sorted through the legal issues related to that game's characters. I'm at least hoping that they'll keep the Culex fight in the game and it'd be a shame if it got removed. Also having Luigi as a party member would be neat, though it might not happen.
I'll keep it short then. Before I get Switched off--
Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a new 2D Mario, and Mario even gets a new elephant power-up.
Oh, and Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princesses Peach and Daisy, and Yoshi are playable. Coming 20 October.
Super Mario RPG from the SNES? That's getting a remake due for about 17 November. Who saw this coming?
6 October marks the release of the second Detective Pikachu entry.
… eh, not feeling like the rest right now, sorry.
* haunts *
Oh yeah, and Lunar Shadow RE:Awaken will be released on 18 December 2023, featuring a Respirator Valkyrie as she awakens a new sentience within her and has to struggle between her base instincts as a Bloom Beast and a new sentient being wearing a cute respirator--… would play…
Opinions:If you ever make the time, I do recommend trying out Shovel Knight's DLC campaigns. Plague of Shadows plays differently though the levels are mostly the same. Spectre of Torment and King of Cards are an improvement over Plague of Shadows due to the levels being built around their character's unique abilities rather than the same journey with a different character and a new final boss.
-- Shovel Knight: I played the original game but not any of the expansions. Excellent homage to Megaman, very well designed, even though I never really came back
-- Metroid 2 -- Specifically, the fanmade version of it that Nintendo tried to kill. Balls hard. Absolutely epic music. It's rare that a game is made with this much love.
-- The Power -- A masterclass in metroidvania world design. Can navigate the whole map with ease, without getting lost and without the need for a fast travel system.
… Metroidvanias… and fun… want more…
Afterimage, Ender Lilies… not working on our computer…
Alwa's Awakening/Legacy, Astalon: Tears of the Earth, Axiom Verge (both), Bloodstained (CotM1/2 and RotN), Cathedral, Catmaze, Cave Story, Chasm, Elderand, Fortune Summoners - Secret of the Elemental Stone, Iconoclasts, Iji, La-Mulana 2, Lost Epic, Lost Ruins, Mable and the Wood, Minoria, Momodora games, Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, Monster Sanctuary, Phoenotopia Awakening, Poacher, Rusted Moss, Shovel Knight, TimeSpinner, Transiruby, Unepic, Valdis Story - Abyssal City, Vernal Edge, Wife Quest, Wings of Vi… already playable to us…
Ye gods there sure are a lot of interesting games by Kemco.Either way, a lot of these seem pretty interesting to me~
Like.
For me, the interesting games I can find are (and this is mostly because of outfits T_T ):
• SILVER NORNIR (because Elena and Alicia, and Lynn because she has a sweet tooth like me--)
• Chronus Arc (Kuril)
• Alphadia Genesis (Aurra) and Alphadia Genesis 2 (Elize) and Alphadia Neo (Enah)
• Illusion of L'Phalcia (Tiana)
• Legend of Ixtona (Lufina and Misha, so far I can tell)
• Revenant Saga (Julia) and Revenant Dogma (Julie and Elize)
• Antiquia Lost (Lunaria)
• Fairy Elements (Orka and Tsubasa)
• Fernz Gate (Lita and Toril)
• Heirs of the Kings (Serena and Laura)

• Miden Tower (Amelia)
• Crystal Ortha (Margaret, probably)
• Blacksmith of the Sand Kingdom (Valeria, Hannah)
• Chroma Quaternion (Eara, Evaile)
• Infinite Links (Meytia)
And of course the Asdivine games that I've played and Bonds of the Skies and Dragon Lapis~ <3
• Asdivine Hearts and Asdivine Hearts II both have a CAT in the party. There's also Stella, and Uriel~

• Asdivine Saga has Celes and Akane~
Huh. Seems several games have Maidame Curie and Jolie Curie, two maid sisters.
Also holy crisps Alvastia Chronicles lets you have battles with 13 party members at the same time?!
Like. That's a small army!
I wanna play RPGolf Legends one day.
And all the other Kemco games.
Wow, I'm going on a rampage of happiness~ *-*
… cheater…Even I'm willing to make exceptions every once in a while. And that was after many, many failed attempts.
… bizarrely, unlike Charlie…
… cheater…Well, King played the PS2 version whereas I played the PC version.

I've yet to play Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity but I do remember that Sonic Rider's story modes were brutal. Having to play Sky Road as Wave, man that was a nightmare.… cheater…

I wanna have more games like original Sonic Riders now--
Just. Not so hard.

Didn't see that coming

You'd be surprised. (https://castlevania.fandom.com/wiki/Salt)I guess I'll have to pass the salt then.
I know salt has nothing to do with Castlevania but I'm sure you're not supposed to eat salt on it's own. You'd be surprised. (https://castlevania.fandom.com/wiki/Salt)
Huh.I know salt has nothing to do with Castlevania but I'm sure you're not supposed to eat salt on it's own.
Something happens this year (https://www.xfire.com/ex-castlevania-dev-big-announcement-next-year/) apparently, there's this (https://www.xfire.com/konami-confirms-interest-new-castlevania/), and lastly, this (https://www.xfire.com/new-konami-trademark-castlevania/).
Not sure how trustworthy that site is as a source, though, so taking it with a grain of sugar. (Bleccch, I can't stand salt on its own!)
https://youtu.be/SpwQkNzNsXkIt's fine. I haven't really made time for these videos myself.
I forgot this sort of thing is, well, a thing.

And the new Zelda game is around 18 GB. Holy f**k.18GB is nothing to sniff at. The other article sounds like a parody but then again, it is Yoko Taro. Hopefully there will be a day where he and Hideo Kojima will collaborate on a game.
Also this interests me (https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/sega-and-yoko-taros-404-game-reset-reimagines-sega-games-as-women/)--
Wonder if Sonic the Hedgehog will be reimagined too?
YE GODS--From what I've seen, some of the GBA games on offer are the same ones that were released as part of the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador event. And I can get GBA games for free by downloading them so there's little point in paying for any of them. Additionally, I was only invested in Kirby: Return to Dreamland Deluxe due to the Nintendo Direct confirming the existence of Magolor Epilogue.
Remasters of the first Etrian Odyssey games for Switch and PC (https://www.gematsu.com/2023/02/etrian-odyssey-origins-collection-announced-for-switch-pc) confirmed.
Each with two extra DLC portraits.
No clue if this Origins Collection will be remastering the 3DS versions of I and II though.(click to show/hide)
There's also all this IGN news (https://za.ign.com/metroid-prime/172880/news/nintendo-direct-february-2023-everything-announced-including-the-legend-of-zelda-tears-of-the-kingdo) about the recent Nintendo Direct. Stuff included:
• The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gets a collector's edition that's obviously more expensive.
• Metroid Prime Remastered is released, with physical releases coming later this month. No news on remasters of the second or third games, though, nor news on a fourth one.
• Pikmin 4.
• Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games will be coming to Switch by the Nintendo Switch Online thing. All NSO subscribers have access to the GB games, but those with the Expansion Pack will get access to the GBA games, apparently.
• Advance Wars 1+2: Boot Camp will be released in April this year.
• Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will have its Booster Course Pass released later this year ("Spring 2023", so I imagine it's Autumn for us Southern Hemisphere folks). Future waves will apparently have returning characters from older games, too.
• Splatoon 3 will have an expansion pass bringing Inklings to Splatoon 1's Inkopolis, and there's another DLC, "Side Order", but it's a mystery at this point.
• Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe will get a new epilogue in this remaster, and up to four players can play together. On the same Switch.
• Xenoblade Chronicles 3's third volume of the expansion pass will add a new hero and a fourth volume will arrive later this year.
• Fire Emblem Engage DLC featuring new Emblems, including Robin, Chrom, Soren, Camilla, and Veronica. Oh, and a new story called "Fell Xenologue" in wave 4. Uh?
• Disney Illusion Island, releasing July this year.
• Sea of Stars, releasing later in August. (On the Switch, at least. Dunno when the PC version releases, but I'm following the Twitter account so.)
• Octopath Traverler 2 releases later this month.
• Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon spin-off.
• In March, Dead Cells DLC brings a Return to Castlevania!
• Wow. Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster confirmed!
• TRON: Identity too.
• Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will be the newest entry in the series.
• Samba de Amigo: Party Central. A rhythm game. Boring.
• Harmony: The Fall of Reverie, from the developer of Life Is Strange.
• Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is a life sim letting you build up an island, craft, engage in combat (I'm interested), complete quests, and travel through time. Wait, how do you steal time--?!
• Remaster of We Love Katamari.
• Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective will also be getting an HD upgrade--?!
• Omega Strikers. Not interested, but it's free-to-play and a soccer/air-hockey mix.
• Fashion Dreamer. I'd prefer Style Savvy honestly.
• DECAPOLICE, from the devs of Professor Layton.
• Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE.
Of course. Nothing Pokémon-related, so that's probably gonna be. Like. On Pokémon Day or something.
Yeah…It's a good thing that you can download old games off the internet and place them into external devices. Sure I could just play them on an emulator but it wouldn't be the same as playing them on actual hardware. Though I suppose playing on an emulator does have it's benefits (such as being able to play Boktai 2/3 and Kirby's Dreamland 3).
Should probably have expected this (https://twitter.com/OatmealDome/status/1562410290725228544?t=Clir0RWdIGHXOvhcUC2zyg&s=19)Of course. As if SEGA installing DRM into their games wasn't bad enough. Do big companies just hate modding and emulation that much?
SoAs someone who has interest in developing games, perhaps I could learn a thing or two from Sakurai?
Uh
Who expected this (https://twitter.com/Sora_Sakurai/status/1562273496960380928)?
Candace from Phineas and Ferb had to deal with squirrels once. Luckily they didn't have guns!It was all fun and games until Candice was gunned down by Conker at 3:00am. Rumours of her death were greatly exaggerated and the culprit, Conker the Squirrel is still at large.
I got King'ja'd ;-;
… dangerous squirrels (https://twitter.com/Dexerto/status/1559197415089078272)…If the Nintendo Switch can have a game about a goose, and the PC can have about a stray cat then I don't see why a game about a squirrel with a gun would be any stranger. (Not to mention that Conker's Bad Fur beat them to the punch by several years)
Crazy ideas… naming the squirrel "Dark Lord Voldemort"… for short…
Apparently, those games are coming to PC and XBox (Persona 4 Arena, Persona 5 Royal, Persona 3 Portable) if I understood it correctly. If the Persona 4 Golden mods were any indication, I expect the Persona fandom to have so much fun when these games get re-released to PC.
Well I doubt it's Persona 3 related. Maybe it'll be another dancing game, fighting game spinoff or Persona Q3. Or maybe we're gonna get Persona 6?Apparently, those games are coming to PC and XBox (Persona 4 Arena, Persona 5 Royal, Persona 3 Portable) if I understood it correctly.
It's rumoured there's a Persona announcement coming?Well I doubt it's Persona 3 related. Maybe it'll be another dancing game, fighting game spinoff or Persona Q3. Or maybe we're gonna get Persona 6?
We'll see--
* pulls out Evoker *
Oh, we'll see alright.
Repurposing this thread for general gaming chat.Huh, I remember seeing a cyberpunk styled game where you could play as a cat. I'm not sure if that's the same game or a different one.
Games without their own threads, games for unknown platforms.
I, as a lover of cat, approve of this (https://twitter.com/jeffaramos/status/1534917158567919618) so far. I see a CAT. We need more games with a CAT. :3
I see your plan and, by the command of UB-Bloom, I am to counter with a board for you to make your own gaming thread in (http://lunarshadowcs.createaforum.com/auroradash's-well/). :3
Everyone else has their own gaming threads so I will take over the main gaming thread >:3I see your plan and, by the command of UB-Bloom, I am to counter with a board for you to make your own gaming thread in (http://lunarshadowcs.createaforum.com/auroradash's-well/). :3
:))It's probably the circular shape or the texture.
Bars of soap? I think CS Balrog was based on one, rather than a toaster...
I like the Ocean Palace theme. :3
Never started with the Lost Sanctum, though... I mean. I did finish CTDS, but beating that Dream Devourer was tough. ... What was I dreaming, again?
Anyway. I think I'll get lost in the Lost Sanctum anyway, so I'll just listen to music instead. :p
CT had some pretty great songs, though I wish "Battle 2" got more use than it did...
I AM NOT A TOASTER!!!
The clock-dash was the easy part to me. The hardest part was the whole "dodge Time Eater hands".Dealing with Time Eater's hands once he's down to 2 HP is the worst because of how frequently it happens. That and they look like bars of soap.
Been playing through Omori. I'm about 17 hours in and nowhere close to the end yet.Crappy fetch quests and unskippable cutscenes you say? Sounds like the Lost Sanctum in Chrono Trigger DS. That dungeon also had backtracking, lazy bosses and a dungeon which is a recoloured version of an earlier one. One cave area has the Ocean Palace theme and only for that area (thankfully the main track wasn't wasted).
There are aspects of it that I really like. The story is quite cool and the music and art are great. The follow-up action and emotion mechanics add a lot of strategy to the JRPG combat and stop it from getting too tedious.
My biggest problem is that there's an insane amount of padding. There are literally dozens of crappy fetch quests, and there are many, many unskippable cutscenes that consist entirely of boring dialogue. It's like the game goes out of its way to waste my time.
For the most part, I think I like Deltarune better.
Managed to defeat Sonic Generations (3DS) boss, the Time Eater, with only one ring left... whew, that was a tough boss.I remember at the time that Time Eater was pretty tough (mostly the attack where you have to dash through several clocks). That said, I beat Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner. Anubis was pretty tough but I managed to take him down. His second form is somewhat easier and most of is just me pressing the Circle button to spam the everloving **** out of 0 Shift (so I can teleport).
Also beat 7th Dragon 2020 (PSP) bonus boss, Dragoner Takahaya. Won, and loving the battle theme, but... why no sound test? ;-;
(I wanna listen to the battle theme against them SKY people like Neiko... :( )
...
Right. Not sure what to do next... think I'll play FF Tactics (PSP) and stuff.
(Thank you, ESKOM, for stopping load-shedding for now!)
Is that possible? :oYou can but only on a second playthrough and onwards. It's part of her 55th Request: Defeat the Ultimate Opponent.
Yes, the Nyx Avatar boss is lengthy... though fun, to me at least. :p
Currently trying for 100% command collection for the Wayfinder trio in KHBBS, but that's difficult, haha...
Finished Persona 3 Portable as the female character... that Nyx Avatar boss was AWESOME (IMO) and the battle theme, too!I've heard that Nyx Avatar is a very long boss fight and figured you'd be fighting her at some point. Will you be fighting Elizabeth?
"The Arcana is the means by which all is revealed..."
Blah blah blah...
"Eternity awaits..."
And then, Arcana Shift.
So you could say I beat a 14-form boss, haha. :o
Started a male character playthrough, after that. New cycle. He's named after my very first sockpuppet, though, not after myself like with the female. :p
Both, last night.
I also had a Persona fan game idea, but I'm keeping it sealed off within the deepest reaches of my heart, haha...
* takes Evoker, pulls trigger, resulting in a new Persona: the Flower Dragon... which turns into a Pixie... then into an Interstice Lamia... then into a Pikachu... then into a Rune Squirrel... then into a Nebula Wyrm... and continues changing... *
... Huh. Guess my true self's unpredictable.
Fitting, given my sockpuppetry past :P
Just cleared 9 Hours 9 People 9 Doors and... got the ending where everyone died. Including June and Junpei.
Zero probably did it. I know I took door 3, and the one before that, I think, was 4? (It went to a kitchen with Santa and Lotus and June.)
Either way, is it truly the end?
Can't be, else it wouldn't have other endings. :p
Just a bit gory, though...
A part of me expected one of the deaths, but... I'll try with the other endings when I feel like it.
Playing Pokemon Sunday Version now, with its Light-type (weak to AND effective against Dark). My team's too weak for the second Gym, haha... that Umbreon (Lv18?) wiped my entire team out (they're Lv17, minimum).
So: training time. (The Exp. Share helps, though.)
I played INMOST on Friday night. It's a kind of a puzzle platformer. It looked like a metroidvania from the trailer, and I suppose it kind of is I guess.Hoo boy, if you love pretentious story writing then I'm sure that you've heard of YIIK: The Post-Modern RPG? Much like Sonic 06, the music is the best part of the game though at least Sonic 06 wasn't pretentious in it's own story.
I like how moody and atmospheric it is, the music's good, the world seems really cool and there are some awesome moments. However, that's overshadowed by all the really slow walking segments which get tiresome, the confusing and pretentious story, the mediocre puzzles and the fact that the controls can't be remapped.
@King - I think that was Noxid's avatar at the time.
Random thing but I feel like 80% of the threads in this board are useless when you have this thread.Come to think of it, you're right. I'm unsure if Bloom can merge threads, but perhaps she could just merge the threads into one Gaming Thread?
Like the nes games, pkmn, 3ds games, KH, dwarf fortress, square enix games, etc.
Most of them just catch dust anyway
Xiphos Shade?Well yes, all the Mirror bosses have the same naming theme. Soon, I shall defeat him and unlock Payback Mode...
Beat a game? Started playing another? Post in here!I just need to defeat the final boss of Majora's Mask 3D to beat the game. I might consider getting all masks, but I want to move onto Bravely Second at some point.
I've cleared The World Ends With You yesterday.
And started Luminous Arc (1).
As well as Mario Party DS and Wipeout 2.
... Oh, and out of curiosity, Bleach - The Third Phantom today.
Yui's already cleared it, so.
