Apologies. (If I could I'd have split the off-topic posts already.)

EDIT:

;-; so close

it's actually /kʊʃaːɡrə/ (unstressed A at the end) Sometimes I wish I could change my English name to Kushagr because everyone always pronounces the extra A at the end. English sucks. :/
Now that I know, I can pronounce it correctly.

English is complicated, of course…

According to Caitlin, that is also Afrikaans for "seed moon".

I was named by the one that is known as Kim, yet people do not believe me - some think that my name which is known as Hinata is just fake. :(

No, I'm not joking, someone's name was Saad Maan (named by his parents) and he had a news thing going on where he looks so miserable. He really was a Saad Maan.

But it's still Fiction. Nothing's supposed to be believable though, right? I mean, look at all the crazy stories on the internet. They're all fiction, nothing you wouldn't believe to be making sense, but still fantastic.
By believable, I don't mean whether or not you know something is fact or fiction. When I said "believable", I meant that the story immerses us so much into the story, it's as if not only have we been transported into the world in question, we're witnessing the story foretold by the piece of fiction first-hand.

It's for this reason why Pokémon is so popular, why someone went through the crazy motion of actually renaming themselves to "Optimus Prime", why people love pretending to be ponies (looks at Aurora Dash/Pteriforever), etc. It's the entire reason fandoms exist in the first place.

By believable, I don't mean the creation of actual life because that's impossible. Rather, when I said "believable", I mean creating a very convincing illusion of life, the very phenomenon I've explained within this post. This isn't something one can merely dismiss. Without a convincing illusion of life, we can't get into the fiction, and without being able to get into fiction, we wouldn't be able to enjoy them.

Also, Kushagra, something can be beautifully written and still not live up to its believability. That is why I don't judge fiction by its aesthetics alone.

Fun fact: Pierre's character is absolutely barebones with very little prose written for his Bio, yet I still allowed him into the game since I saw potential in his character. The fact that it's absolutely barebones actually seems to be working in his favor as it means he could just behave as if the character was himself.

Meh, I've been quite busy lately and I don't have a whole lot of motivation, you guys can go on without me, I might use the character for something else.

Besides, I am incredibly undisciplined and badly behaved and I'm damn proud of it so I'd probably just ruin the game anyway  ;)

I'm not aiming for realism, for if that was true, among other things, I wouldn't have keyblades in my game. What I'm instead aiming for is believability, something you can't just deny. It's the work's believability that makes it enjoyable. Believability is a crucial part of the illusion of life, something all fiction strive for (whether their creators know this or not). Believability and realism are not the same thing, especially since the latter can actually hinder the former when done wrong. (Go see "if [your favorite work] was realistic" for examples.)

Besides, if I really was aiming for realism, I wouldn't had denied his character a second Karjamian Dimension Tunnel Device since realism dictates that's possible. (The real reason why I've denied it is because it goes against the team-based dynamic I had in mind for the game.)

There's a difference between fiction for the sake of fiction and great fiction. Anyone can make the former, but it takes the know-how on how to simulate life effectively in order for someone to create the latter.

I don't want details for the sake of there being details. Even in real life, things always have a reason, even if the thing in question is mundane or the reason behind it small. That, and there are details I want for the game which I don't want anything to contradict. If you have a problem with that, remember, my rulings as the game master are final, no matter how much everyone else complains.

Don't get me wrong, I still want the game to be in the best interest of everyone, but what's the point of spoilering everyone if they're not behaving in a disciplined manner? (Being spoiled is a reward for good behavior, not a right.)
Still, these characters in the RPG are from all over the place. Pteri's character was beautifully crafted, but then you just had to take the dump out on him because it doesn't work due to Karjamian physics and what not. It's FICTION, it's not supposed to be realistic, if you want a sense of realism try non-fiction then.

Several things I have to note:
The only way a player character could ever be affiliated with an element within this game is if they're of a race that's affiliated with said element to begin with. As such, the "Element" tag you gave in your character sheet will be ignored when it comes to putting your character into the game. (Besides, the magic system used in this game is based upon the modified version of the one commonly featured within Final Fantasy titles. Therefore, the element you referenced yourself as should be "Time", not "Chrono".)
You can't choose a class just for the sake of choosing a class. I'm only willing to allow you to play as a thief if being a thief is a huge part of your character. If you don't want to play as a class, that's fine. You'd just be classless. (However, if you want to start out being able to wield a weapon other than your bare fists, you'd have to request for said weapon, as Pierre directly did when he asked for a quitar and Kim indirectly did when she decided that her character should favour Rapiers.)
You can't start out with a second Karjamian Dimension Tunnel Device (as you've implied within your biography). You'd either have to start out being with the adventure group (only possible either outside a scenario or near the beginning of it), getting thrown into the world the group's visiting by alternate means or starting out as a native of said world.
Your intelligence stat does a lot more than just determining a character's ability to understand magic. Besides, even if they could, that does not mean they automatically have the ability to use it. They would also need the relevant Gift, something only Mages, Healers and Keyblade Wielders have by default.

Post by: AuroraDash on 17 July 2016, 06:31:28
I might as well try to make a character.

NAME: Sandra Firefrost
ELEMENT: Chrono
RACE: Teyean Mountain Elf
CLASS: Thief

BIO:

Sandra was born on planet Tey during the Age of the One Tree to the Firefrost clan of mountain elves in the highlands of northern Rayeal. She is a fourth-generation elf; the Rayeali elven races were newcomers to Tey at the time, having been created only about fifty years earlier by an enigmatic chaos being named Ert-Dirow.

At age 5, she was sent to the neighbouring Crystalhand clan in order to study their specialty, probability magic. This was considered more desirable than the Firefrost clan's specialty, elemental magic, because it could be used to protect against a wide variety of perils and to extend one's lifespan -- a pressing concern for mountain elves, who have an average lifespan of 44 years. Unfortunately, Sandra was not good at probability magic, and at age 9 she was thrown out of the Crystalhand clan for bad behaviour.

Upon returning home, she discovered that war had broken out -- the Firefrost clan had joined forces with several light elf clans to conquer the lands of the castle elves. While others wanted her to join the war, she was not interested in the conflict, and so she set off by herself, never to return. She quickly learned how to best survive in the wild, before travelling West over the ocean, eventually ending up in Hedean -- zombie country -- where she ascended to adulthood at age 11 and made a living from black market operations. While the authorities eventually shut her down and she lost most of her money, she was able to get her hands on Karjam's Domain technology before this could happen, and she immediately jumped at the opportunity to get off Tey entirely.

ATTRIBUTES:

Strength: Average
Intelligence: Poor
Constitution: Great
Agility: Great

APPEARANCE:

Sandra has long green hair and greyish skin. She is 1.89 metres tall, which is rather short by elf standards. She sometimes hides her identity with a black beanie and a clown mask.

Richard takes his religion seriously; that, and he'd probably be very uncomfortable with a demonic character (even if it's only 1% demon 99% human).

Hence, I hereby hug everyone and inflict 0d20 points of hug-elemental damage.

You should've let that be an opportunity to create a better character instead, Kushagra. The attitude you're displaying towards being denied of your ideas is not what most companies would approve of. In fact, the attitude you showed me will actually get you fired from your job.

...Perhaps you should've developed your character more instead of switching classes.

I know keyblades aren't weapons that anyone could simply wield. I only had that class there as a concession since I know most of the people here are fans of that series. But even then, the one that did pick the Keyblade Wielder class had a decency to give an explanation as to why they can wield the keyblade. Switching to such elusive class while changing little else about your seeming generic character implies to me that you're too lazy to even put in the effort to properly develop your character. Heck, even your tiefling character was better than this!

If you're not willing to put in the effort in spite of the constraints I'm giving you, I'm afraid I'll have to kick you out of the game. I want a simulation of life, not someone who games the system.
Karjam, that's literally what you forced me to do. You said my Tiefling character wasn't good enough so I got pretty disappointed because of that and make a human character (which I thought was extremely horrible but since you wouldn't allow me Tiefling...)

I really think it's silly that you're not allowing a character because they're part Demon. Tieflings are human for the most part with only a bit of demon blood involved.

Also, if you really think that my characters are extremely bad, don't hold the others back! Let them play and have fun, at least. I only wanted to join because I thought this might be interesting, but seeing that I can't use a character that literally had to modify to the point where it's no longer the original character to fit the requirements, only to have it turned down because it's partially demon, is really a put-off for me.

If you're not willing to put in the effort in spite of the constraints I'm giving you, I'm afraid I'll have to kick you out of the game. I want a simulation of life, not someone who games the system.

My apologies, I of all people should remember that the game master's word is final. I'll wait.

An assassin with colorblindness and low blood pressure. No offense, but the faults you've chosen would actually get in the way of your job, especially the latter.

I suggest that you pick faults that are more believable for your class, or at least give a believable justification. After all, you're supposed to be pretending you're them.
Or you let him keep his character and see where that goes. Though if you disapprove, that is your decision as game master.

Just because he seems to be acting bitter towards you doesn't mean I'm going to let that effect his participation within the game. What happens in the game happens there, not here.

Your character's part demon, of a race typically seen in a "D&D/Pathfinder"-like world, worlds which include Dante-style demons as part of its mythology. No amount of pleading's going to make me change my mind. You know how stubbornous I can be, Kushagra.

As it stands, I'm looking for more normal races in the game in terms of tone. Stuff such as demonic races from mythology that follows Dante's definition of demons is not what I'm looking for.

(Incidentally, don't bother linking to TV Tropes when talking to me, Kushagra. I've promised myself long ago I would never visit that site ever again, a promise I need to keep due to not fully recovering from the misjustice I've experienced there.)

Not really so sure about allowing a player character to be a half demon.

...Remember when I said, "You're only allowed to play another race with my permission?" Well, I'm denying you permission. Perhaps if you were to play as a more light-hearted devil, maybe, but I wouldn't allow something as dark as a tiefling to be a player character.
Aww. I even changed all of the faults so they would comply with your rules...

Do I really have to redo everything? I mean, these (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DarkIsNotEvil) two (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FaceOfAThug) tropes technically apply to her. She's just a character with a dark past, she's not necessarily evil herself. She's just paranoid and has PTSD of sorts.

Fixed application then:

NAME: Sofferenza

BIO: A Tiefling of the result of many generations of Human and Demon mating, Soffrenza was cast down in society. Having no place to go, she was forced to work in gangs and other mercenary-styled jobs, increasing her survival skills and such. On one particular mission, she found a group of "travellers", and deciding to investigate the matter, she ended up joining them, betraying her Mafia members.

ATTRIBUTES:
Strength:     Superb
Intelligence: Good
Constitution: Great
Agility:      Good

CLASS: Soldier

FAULTS:
[Photophobia] She's absolutely terrified of bright lights.
[Adrenaline and Hot Headedness] She takes lots of dangerous risks, many of which usually disobey orders and nearly get her killed. She's also incredibly hot-headed and gets mad easily.
[Paranoia] Due to struggles as a kid, she gets paranoid far too easily and will pull the trigger on just about anything if she's paranoid.
[Allergic to Pollen] Depending the flower the pollen is coming from, the severity of the allergic reaction can range from a small, uneven shedding of a few scales on her body to severe pain and lumps forming on her body.
[Insanity] When certain things from her childhood are brought up (mainly her family, her "friends", etc.) or if she sees someone or something close to her suffering, or if happens to hear extremely high pitched or extremely low pitched frequencies (sounds beyond her hearing range) she enters a Neurotic state where she completely loses control of herself.

Do you seriously want to play as a half demon? We're not really playing Dungeons and Dragons or Pathfinder...

To keep things in balance, I've decided to place a limit on how many free level you can gain in total: 6. That, in addition for the 2 free levels given to everyone regardless of how many faults or attributes they sold off, means you still have one more attribute level to spend.

Incidentally, your "insanity" is also too vague to be considered as such. You need to take for consideration the fact that I need to factor your faults into the story in some way. Also, unless I'm planning to allow players to turn on each other, I'm not going to allow a fault which allows you to easily do that. We're supposed to be in this together.

Six points?
I suppose making all attributes "great" would work, then?
However, I will, instead, just add 1 attribute level to each attribute (leaving 2 levels remaining).
Will those attribute levels be lost, or will unused ones serve a purpose later?

I won't mind if you move my character when I cannot.

I list them for the sake of answering possible questions ahead of time, I guess. (In case appearance plays a factor in the future. One can never be too careful.)

My post has been updated.

Not at first since otherwise, it would throw my plans for introducing a certain mechanic out of the window. (Said mechanic allows a trade of a certain gameplay-related resource each player would have. I'll tell you what it is when the game starts.)
Title: Re: Karjamian Mythos RPG (Signup)
Post by: RKS on 11 July 2016, 19:20:07
Maybe.

Incidentally, you list "Fear of the dark and Heartless", "Hatred of [a group of beings]" and "believes those who use poison as evil" as things of your character, right? I'll allow you to take those as faults, giving you a neat six levels of character levels to spend on your character. (Take note that they're highly likely to become relevant in a given game session, so keep that in mind.)

Lastly, I suggest you only join if you're willing to dedicate time to the game. I can't have a person standing idle for many rounds when the others want to move on to the next area. Of course, if you want, I could simply just move your character for you should others want to do so, although keep in mind you might lose progress within the area you've been visiting if you were trying to do something. (The same goes for the other player characters, not just Anesia).

Incidentally, you do know "Relatives" and "Appearances" are optional, right? In fact, they're not even listed in the original post as a requirement for your bio. To be precise, they're not listed at all.

NAME: Anesia Memoré

BIO:
A half-human girl from Amnesiac City in the World That Was Forgotten (http://vresunciraianruins.proboards.com/thread/1646/world-forgotten). Her favorite weapon is a rapier, though she considers staves a second-favorite weapon.

She suffers from amnesia and is afraid of the dark and Heartless, but wishing to regain her memory fills her with plenty of determination. It is for this reason that she chose to join a group of travelers, though she worries that they might be Heartless in disguise.

She absolutely detests magpies, ravens, crows, phoenixes, chocolates, onions, garlic and wombats. She believes people who use poison are pure evil.

RELATIVES:
They all fell into Memory's Abyss, according to a girl named Eliza.

APPEARANCE:
Anesia has long green hair and azure eyes. She has fair skin. She has a scar over her left arm that constantly hurts in the presence of Heartless; she wears a bandage to hide the scar. She wears a red dress, black knee-high socks, and red, toeless ankle boots. She wears a light red cape. For some reason, she wears a necklace around her neck with a blue-and-white version of the Heartless emblem.

ATTRIBUTES:
Strength: average
Intelligence: good
Constitution: good
Agility: average

CLASS: Mage

Will this suffice? Or are there some changes to make?

(For the curious: "Anesia" comes from "amnesia", and "Memoré" comes from "memory".)
Does that include literally dropping in because of a teleporation accident?

FAULTS:

-Can't be trusted that easily. She literally left multiple gangs, mafias and mobs just to join the next. Even this traveller group.

Faults inherent in being of a certain race don't count as faults within the context of creating a character. I would suggest that you replace the first two faults if you want to keep your power levels as-is.

The last fault is too vague to be considered as such. Remember, you're creating a character to roleplay as. Faults are supposed to represent things about the character that may affect how you could play as them. Even stuff such as "honesty" and "code of honor" can be faults since they tend to limit your choices in the game.

There's nothing wrong with adding backstory flair. In fact, the rules encourage it somewhat. The reason you give might work in the long-run, but in the meantime...

All we're waiting for now is for Kushagra to finish his characters. In the meantime, I suggest you should talk and come up with the world you want to start in.
Alright.

I, for one, am not picky.

Starting Keyblade's Starlight. (Incidentally, the Kingdom Key D is actually a Keyblade of Darkness, not a Keyblade of Light. It's the only known Keyblade to be so.)
Alright.
Who's a good little Keyblade? Starlight, yes it is, yes it is! :)

Also, I recommend you only give backstory information that's relevant to the game. As far as I know, details such as your relatives wouldn't be relevant to a game that involves traveling between universe (as in, a more literal definition of that word. No, it's not one universe compromising of several worlds a la Kingdom Hearts). Although optional, I also recommend that you add details explaining how you got to be working with the rest of the team.
Regarding Quinton, that was just in case other versions of him appeared. (Or someone requires info on Ginevra's relatives. Not that there are a lot left; just her brother and herself.)

As for details on how Ginny ended up working with the others… right now I can't think of any details :(
For now, I'll just update the post to mention that she has no idea how she ended up with them.

About your attributes: You've sold two attribute levels and brought two more. Since those two cancel each other out, giving you have two more attribute levels to spend. In addition, you've mentioned "Gasmasks" and "Hazmat suits" being something your character fears. In terms of Fudge mechanics, that would be a fault in its own right (and thus, will be featured within the game at least some of the time). Each fault also grants 2 free attribute points to spend. Therefore, you now have four levels in total you can spend on improving your attributes.
… So, four attribute points.

I'll spend two of those points on Intelligence and two of those points on Agility (bringing those to Superb), if that's permitted (which I believe it is, seeing as Legendary isn't - but then, I'm no Dialga or Reshiram :P ).

I've updated my previous post.

The current criteria for a player character is them just starting out on an adventure. As such, I can't allow characters that are too powerful.

If, perhaps, you nerf your sprite character in some way to his starting levels (i.e.,  he's still figuring out his powers, to give an example), then perhaps I could consider allowing such a character.

Anyway,

Okay, sure, I'd like to see the Fudge rule PDF so I can adapt it like that.

But here's my character in a nutshell.

Name: Chaleur
Element: Fire
Race: Sprite
Class: Sorcerer-esque (I'll explain later)

He's a sprite, so in terms of being physically strong (i.e. lifting heavy things) he's not that strong.
Again, as he's a sprite (and is tiny) he's not quite as "enduring" either.
He's extremely fast though, due to his small size, and because he's a sprite, he can fly with his wings (though he does get tired eventually if he flies for too long)

He wears the "Manteau de Cendres" (which is French for Coat of Cinders) and wields two "Faucille Vignoble" (French for Vineyard Sickles) as well as the "Coeur d'épines" (French for Heart of Thorns).
The Coat is made of a fire-proof plant material, which is fitting as Chaleur (his name's French for Heat) is a Fire user. However, because he's also a sprite, he has Plant abilities as well.

The Sickles are his main weapons, he usually sets them on fire (temporarily) and slashes with them. He also uses the inner curve to launch fire-based projectiles that are in the shape of a rapidly spinning crescent.
The Heart of Thorns is also a weapon, rather, it's actually an orb with thorns in it that's embedded into his chest. He can actually remove the Heart from his chest, but that causes him to lose his powers. When he activates it, the thorns on the Heart spread outward like roots onto his chest and the center glows brightly. He can then use his bare hands to cast Fire and Plant-based spells.

This might be a bit too complicated for this RPG...

From what I can tell, I'll be a support unit. Which suits me just fine.

...Well that sounds a lot more advantageous than I thought it'd be.

Alright, if you say so, then.

NAME:
Ginevra Wolfhart

BIO / OTHER INFO:
A human girl from Earth who was badly injured by beings of Darkness, when she awoke her ability to control Light. Summoning a Keyblade forged from this light, she managed to defeat her attackers, though afterwards she fainted.

She woke up in a hospital of an unknown place, and chose to learn more about her gift. She has a major fear of gas masks and hazmat suits, though she will wear those if it's the only thing keeping her from death (as she has an even worse fear of death).

She considers "Fragments of Sorrow" as one of her most favorite Kingdom Hearts battle themes, along with Forgotten Challenge.

RELATIVES:
She has an older brother named Quinton, though little is known about him. Their parents are deceased.

APPEARANCE:
Ginevra has short black hair and pure blue eyes. She has fair skin. She generally wears a black cloak with black gloves, black tights and black high-heeled boots; under the cloak, she wears a black skirt and a black long-sleeved shirt.

ATTRIBUTES:
Strength: Mediocre
Intelligence: Good
Constitution: Mediocre
Agility: Good

CLASS:
Keyblade Wielder

Goofy (Kingdom Hearts version, at least) uses a shield to attack, so it makes sense for a shield to be a weapon.

So, is this okay? Do I still have an "attribute point" or two to spend?
(If one, then Agility. If two, then both Agility and Intelligence.)

I'm assuming that her starting weapon is either a Kingdom Key (http://www.khwiki.com/Kingdom_Key), a Kingdom Key D (http://www.khwiki.com/Kingdom_Key_D) or a Starlight (http://www.khwiki.com/Starlight)… or is it going to be a Wooden Keyblade (http://www.khwiki.com/Wooden_Keyblade)? :P
Starting Keyblade's Starlight. (Incidentally, the Kingdom Key D is actually a Keyblade of Darkness, not a Keyblade of Light. It's the only known Keyblade to be so.)

(In case you're wondering, yes, I know of Goofy wielding a shield as a weapon. In fact, he was the reason why I've added the Defender class in the first place.)

Looks interesting. I have a few questions before I make a list though:

1. Is it okay if I use a character that I've made before, but haven't used in any work of fiction yet?
2. What weapon category would Sickles fall under? (referring to the above mentioned character)
3. Are Sprites (http://spiderwick.wikia.com/wiki/Sprite) allowed as a race? (again, referring to above mentioned character)

You can only have those options if you choose to go under the "customization" route. After all, the default character creation rules I've presented assumes you're creating a new character entirely from scratch. In addition, although I could add a class that would wield a sickle as a weapon (and I have one in mind), at the moment, I wouldn't want others to play as said class. Lastly, playing as a race other than human is something I would have to approve.

Since this is a pre-established character you want to bring into the game (and not some adventurer who's just starting out), I will need to approve of them first before I'm willing to allow such character into the game. Create the character first, then I'll see. If it would help, I can also link to a PDF document explaining the rules of Fudge since that's the system I've chosen for the game. Just ask.

I see roleplay potential...

Alright, You're allowed a guitar as a weapon. To compensate, your "Staff Proficiency" has been replaced with "Guitar Proficiency (Weaponized)". I think I'll allow you a "Music" skill as well.

(Incidentally, you DO know you've essentially sold an attribute level, right? That means you can now improve your other attributes by up to three levels instead of two.)
From what I can tell, I'll be a support unit. Which suits me just fine.

This seems interesting, reminds me of this DnD thing some of the guys do in college.

NAME: Pagliacci
BIO: A humble clown who can cast magic through his guitar.
ATTRIBUTES: Strength- Mediorce
                         Intelligence- Average
                        Constitution- Average
                        Agility- Average
CLASS: Healer

Uh.. so am I allowed a guitar as a weapon or will I have to stick to a staff?

A band of adventurers got their hands on elusive Karjam's Domain technology. Now, they're going on a trip across the dimensions...

Before you can enter into the world of the game, you'll need to sign up. To sign up, bring me information about these things:

NAME: The name of you want your character to be known by in-game.

BIO: The basic backstory of your character

ATTRIBUTES: Each attribute is rated by levels represented by words (is that FUDGE that I smell?). The levels are, from least to greatest: Terrible, Poor, Mediocre, Average, Good, Great, Superb, Legendary (Not available for starter characters)

The available attributes are:

Unless otherwise noted, each attribute starts off as "Average". You may buy or sell levels to customize your character, with the first two levels being free.

CLASS:
If you so choose, you can start off with Great proficiency in a class. For in-game purposes, each class counts as a skill relevant towards in-game situations. In addition, each class starts off with "Good" proficiency in one weapon, with each player characters starting off with one. (Those with no class fight with their fists.)

As of this moment, available classes are:
Customization: With my approval, you can also request to make characters using the Fudge (http://www.fudgerpg.com/) ruleset (Or, more specifically, through the "subjective character creation system"). Keep in mind that the terms for the levels above are what's going to be used within the game and that you cannot define custom attributes. If you define a "Weapon Proficiency" skill for your character and I approve of it, yes, I will grant you a free weapon within that category (only one per character, however, so if you have multiple weapon proficiencies, you need to specify what weapon you want to start off with).

If you so want, you can also request to start off as a race other than human (with my permission, of course). Being something other than human has both its advantages and its disadvantages and will give you bonuses and penalties within certain (diceless) rolls, so think carefully.

Note that you're not exclusive to generic or public domain species. You can also be a species from pop culture, such as Equestrian Ponies, Digimon or even Pokémon. You can also play as animals if you so want (although you might want to consider not playing as a creature that can't talk). If you want to play as a creature of your own invention, I will need to ask you to describe to me what they are.

After I've get a satisfactory amount of players, you'll need to tell me which universe and location you guys want to start in. You can be in any location, be it a real life location, a location of your own invention or even a location featured within your favorite fiction. I will decide on what happens from then onwards.
