I figured that Nintendo's patent wasn't going to work out considering that they're not the only creators of stories involving monster summoning/capture.

I've seen that review and it's clear that it was a troll review that wasn't written in good faith. I wouldn't be surprised if people start accusing artists of using A.I for creating art they don't like much like they already do whenever people write something they don't like.
