I'll just go ahead and post as much information as I can; I might add more in the future. I'm unsure. Also most of it might be ridiculous and whatnot but then again, Newerth's in a galaxy of weirdness.
THE TAINT:
The Taint is something that the Horton family from the Tirahnys continent of Newerth has had for generations. Those Hortons are often referred to as "the Tainted".
When talking about the Taint of the Hortons, one should note that the Taint and the Tainted are proper nouns.
Serenity Horton is the most recent person to have the Taint, and marks the 125^th generation of Hortons with the Taint.
Everyone who has had the Taint has been female, as there has been no male Hortons born in the past two millennia; when married, the couple goes with the last name of the wife rather than the husband's last name (or hyphenating the last names) which is why everyone with the Taint has been Hortons.
This Taint has been kept a secret until the wedding day of a Tainted; if their betrothed no longer wants to marry the Tainted then their memories of the Tainted are removed entirely to preserve the secrets regarding the Taint.

On or after they turn twelve, the Tainted lose their left eye - when it's open, there's literally no eye, which is why they either keep their left eyes closed (like Serenity) or cover it with a bandage or something.
On or after their twentieth birthday, the Tainted regain their left eye. However, the left eye is an entirely different color, and the Tainted gain magical powers that Newerthians can't have by normal means.
Both will only take place when the Tainted are asleep; in the case of an insomniac, they will lose their insomnia; in the event that their insomnia is normally permanent, it is negated for a week.
Being poisoned will turn the left eye color to the previous color, as long as the Tainted remains poisoned (hence why Serenity's mother has two green eyes rather than mismatched eyes).

When Serenity turns 20, her left eye will be blue, rather than green. She will have the ability of flight (though not from the Taint or Valkyrie Wings she got from her mom; the reason will be revealed in the Alexis boss fight, sort-of), but she will be able to see things that people can't normally see (like invisible stuff), as well as control the Serenthian elements of Water and Cuteness. (Yes, Cuteness is an element. Serenth is a weird galaxy if cuteness can be used to cause damage to monsters and such.)
In addition to that, she will get the ability to bring certain cards to life and thus cause actual harm with them, however, it has to follow the official rules of the games the cards are from.

- I've noticed several blocked-off areas in the castle. Where do those go, excluding those that have yet to be added to Lunar Shadow?

• [001] Laboratory X: the bones are there, blocking off deeper access into the Laboratory.
• [010] Entrance XYZ: the dirt is there, preventing access to the Lunar Soul area.
• [011] Entrance C: the dirt and grass there blocks off access to the Cursed Warehouse area.
• [024] Laboratory SP: the boxes block off access to another area of the Laboratory, that leads to the Reservoir area (that area is also blocked off).
• [027] Entrance TG: the blocks (now dirt) block off access to the Tainted Garden area. (This room gets a few slight changes.)
• [032] Reservoir C: while not immediately obvious, access into another part of the Reservoir is blocked off.
• [038] Reservoir Y: access to the Clock Tower is blocked off.
• [041] Reservoir SP: none; however, there's a 50% chance that there'll be a bonus five-map area not on the map (in Lunar Shadow).
• [050] Tower D: access to the Lunar Soul area is blocked off by bricks - thus, it's not immediately obvious. The room was flooded after the bricks were placed there.
• [053] Tower NL: unsure yet. Possibly, it might lead to a new room in the Tower area, but not in Lunar Shadow.
• [056] Tower DT: unsure yet, but the possibility exists that it might lead to both the Top Floor (left) and the Corridor of Darkness (right).
• [060] Servant Quarters RR: the green crystal thing? It blocks access to the Grim Path area.
• [067] Top Floor A: the entrance to the Grim Path area is blocked off as well, at the lower-left part of the room.
• [071] Tower DL: blocks off an entirely unknown area at this time.
• [079] Top Floor I: blocks off a small part of the Top Floor area.
• [080] Confusion Zone SG1: near the entry point, even. Leads to an unknown area not in Lunar Shadow... or perhaps it exists to confuse people.
• [082] Confusion Zone SG3: in a secret room, there's a pillar between three doors. It leads to an unknown area.
• [084] Confusion Zone TF: there is a "corridor" filled with pink sand... or something pink, at least. (Cotton candy?) It leads to areas unknown.
• [086] Top Floor CZ: at the top, there's some dirt. That leads to the same area as the one that Confusion Zone TF leads to.
• [092] Tower, Throne: at the very top-left, one way to the Clock Tower area is blocked off.
• [093] Tower SP: it blocks off another part of the Tower area.
• [095] Entrance SQ: two blocks are, well, blocking off access to another Entrance area room.
