Hm...

The Hortons (and Valkyrie as well as her husband Evan O'Neill - which sounds more badass than Evan Horton) could be secret characters?

Sounds good. But you have do a sidequest first. Thankfully, it's one of the easier ones, despite the rematch with all of the Castle Master's henchmen, all of whom use attack strategies similar to actual players.

Of course. But even that won't protect you against Nega Green ParjamK (who is known for being unfair) and Rainbow Nega Bloom (who nobody has actually defeated).

Maybe they could have an "Elite Four" (or something), each one being evil on a Leighlor continent.
Defeat them all, and you get to learn where the final dungeon lies.

I'd like it to be a huge space station. Or the moon. Or both.
And you'd get there by means of... as much as I dislike it... meteor sharks.

We could have a villain who pollutes a continent, and giant battle robots.

Or a ghost train (or spaceship!) to suplex.

The hero(ine) could be an average 21-year old, the final villain a twin sibling.

Or... WE could be the real villains, playing god with the Leighlor people's lives.

I've got an idea: the main antagonist (The Mastermind) has sent his 4 henchmen (The Conspirators) to take over each nation, and demolish the old ways so that they can build a new world. The Mastermind believes that the current societal systems are broken and archaic and so he believes that the old ways must be torn down for the sake of the future.
Yeah, so I'll be working on them, if everyone else is fine with it.

I suppose a late game cutscene could allow that to happen. Unless they fight the main villains in a flashback and get defeated.

1) The planet of Leighlor is under siege by the Mastermind and his 4 Conspirators (who I'll be designing), whose goal to cause social upheaval in order to replace what they believe to be an old, broken down system that benefits the elite and not the people.
2) Ideally I rather have in in the style of Persona 1/Persona 2 though a Final Fantasy style would be less taxing.
3) Serenity Horton (though she might be off limits). If not, we can always have Bloom instead. :3
4) It all comes tumbling down, tumbling down, tumbling down...

Idea: an option between 8-bit sprites/songs/sounds and... whatever classifies as "modern".

Idea: instead of a game over, the player gets kicked to the last town they entered. (Except maybe on the hardest difficulty setting...?)
