Cave Story Mods / Re: General Mod Discussion
« on: 03 November 2016, 12:32:22 »
No idea where to post, so I may as well post here (since it's related to modding).

Something that @KarjamP said made me wonder.

Image's deliberately saved in PNG to help save space (although I'll admit the real reason for doing so is because I prefer it over BMP). You may need to convert the image first before using it in the game, something that should be very easy.
This raises a question that I've been wondering about for at least a few minutes.

Yes, Cave Story itself uses PBM files (at least, the freeware version does). Most mods, as well as Cave Story +, use BMP files.

But the question raised is this: what's to keep a person from converting the image files used in Cave Story mods to PNG?

BMP and PNG can both be opened in something as basic as MS Paint, after all.

I seriously thought this was a thread to watch Ariana take on a knight in a jousting contest.

This raises a question, though one better saved for another thread.

Introductions / Boss Fight! Karlien Tyranto, nee van der Merwe!
« on: 25 April 2016, 21:34:19 »
Right. The name's Karlien. I was born on February 28, 1988. I married Kim's brother Seth some time before he and most of Kim's family passed away (I only found out about their deaths in February this year). I have a daughter, Rosetta.

I helped Kim (about an hour ago) with "rebuilding" (for lack of the correct word) her computer, plus I'm spending the night with the Smiths and Seymours since I'm going to have to figure out why the others can't access the Internet from their computers. I always bring my laptop with me.

If you're wondering about the "nee van der Merwe" part, I was born in South Africa. So my maiden name would be "van der Merwe".

As for the lack of avatar, I have yet to decide what to use, but rest assured that it won't be a gas mask-wearing person. (Unless it's my favorite fictional character, who I will not mention until I have my avatar.)

So, I'll be using an avatar - an unused enemy from Argus, I believe?
It's a beginning :P
