Post by: Charlie on 10 November 2021, 16:04:21
What is this?
Just the last mod I'll probably make. Trying to rediscover what made modding fun to me, haha...

It's still in development, but I'll post what I can, here.

... Once I get Booster's Lab v0.5.0.0 working, that is. :p

I can work on the graphics, at least; there's a title screen prepared and the protagonist's name is Jillian.

That's all I have so far.

When will it be released?
The Arcana is the means by which all is revealed.
Nobody knows what the future holds, for we shape it through our own actions (or inactions).
Eternity awaits...

* changes to the Aeon Arcana from the Fool Arcana *

... Uh...?
* casts Megido, inflicting tons of damage and breaking the screen *

-_-
Flower dragon :3

* casts vote, nothing happens *

O_O

Rage-quits.

... But the rage-quit was negated!

WHAT?!

Meteor shark :3

...

Silliness aside, though, I'm probably gonna take forever to work on this :p

This could be interesting. You now have several people to help you with the mod if you need anything.

:p

So, I'm thinking of having it contain the best areas of all the mods I've had a gloved hand in, in the past.
Hence my CSTSF profile post asking 'bout the favourite LS area. Won't help if I pick Sea Zone and nobody liked it :p

Incidentally, I think I like the Myst Zone from LS most.
Maybe expanding it would be nice?

... This would, technically, NOT be a XSP work despite containing some things from the XSP.
Kinda like how Super Smash Bros ain't a KH work despite Sora being there now, I guess?

So I guess the theme of this mod is... a mystery to me? :p

If you absolutely wanted to, you could take all the ideas you had for Umbrageous Light and repurpose them here. Though I suppose if TERMINUS is going to be a "XSP Greatest Hits" mod then that's also fine.

Myst Zone actually has a lot of potential, and it could be tied to Grie'dyr if you so wanted. Or maybe I just like the whole "underworld" idea.

TERMINUS is actually a "Cibryll's greatest", haha... I may use stuff from my old mods made under the Shane sockpuppet.

Areas too~

There were some areas which had potential but were either unfinished or had lacking design. Hope of Shane had a lot of potential so hopefully TERMINUS might do something with the whole 4 versions of the same mod idea (if only for a single world/area).

Or "Hope of Shané" (I insist on that accent, otherwise I may have to rename her "Shanei" just to get people to pronounce the name right) could get a full-on remake in its own engine.
Something like, "nine games for the price of one", haha. Plus new AIs and stuff to keep it fresh rather than TOO Cave Story-ish. (Or "Very Tacos", but Mejuffrou Fortuin hates that. :p )

But that's Aeonian Works talk, plus I had a sequel in mind that ties all the versions together.

Hope of Shané, sorry. That mod could become it's own game and all 4 versions being selectable in a single game would give it a lot of replay value. New A.Is is pretty much a given because of all the things you'll get to do outside of Cave Story's constraints. Also the sequel after Hope of Shané would also be interesting once you get there.

(* A giant explosion happens. You see shrapnel on the floor. Also a flower dragon eating a loaf of bread. :3)

Erm... I'm... actually kinda sorta planning like nine versions, and the sequel... :-[

All versions in one game would be great...

...

"Mejuffrou Fortuin" sounds like a pun. Translated to English, you get "Miss Fortune", haha...

Maybe that could be the name of a character here?

9 versions? On one hand, a lot of replay value if the player can select which version they want to play at the start. On the other hand, it means that you'd have to make each one different enough to make them all worth playing.

As for the Miss Fortune name, sure why not? It's your mod. And I'm now remembering a pun I came up with this morning. Most people live in a house. Bloom Seymour lives in a greenhouse.
Title: Re: > TERMINUS _
Post by: Charlie on 13 November 2021, 14:14:23
A blooming greenhouse, of all places - it's like a natural greenhouse, but it blooms, too!

...

Yeah, I think WAY BIG (no Omnitrix here :p ) so yeah, differences would be Chi-- er, key. :p

Finished Jillian's sprites for her first outfit; I might add more?

She's dressed in pink, unlike Amariss, and wears black, rather than skin-coloured, tights. But they have brown eyes, fair skin, and blonde hair.

...

When I sprited Amariss last year, Mom was still alive... man, I feel all gloomy now. Time to blossom and bloom, to a less-gloomy me!

... Probably.

okay screw it

I've asked my girlfriends to pick ONE area each from one of the mods I worked on, or had a hand in; I'll do the same here. My girlfriends have an advantage due to having access to unreleased works, though...

Hub (original, me)
Origin Cave (Umbrageous Light: Kim)
The Octagon (Hope of Shané; Luna)

(Sarie has yet to decide.)

I'll pick a random choice here, later. I may end up having to add more original areas, but maybe it could reference stuff I've planned, like Vresun, haha.

What about an original area from that Harmonia thing you were making notes on?

So there we have it. An area from planet Harmonia (which isn't even a part of the XSP!) will debut.

Anyone here have a favourite area? (It may receive an updated look or something, be warned. So the Origin Cave in Terminus mightn't necessarily be the same as in UL.)

Harmonia? I've never heard of this project until now. Then again, I have a few projects that you've never heard of, so we're basically even.

Favourite area...
That's a tough one.
Entrance from Lunar Shadow is one. Sure it's considered boring but practical but exploring it was fun.
Top Floor (mainly because of the atmosphere and music) though the game kinda lost it's lustre at the end.
Myst Zone had a lot of potential (in spite of that awful moment where getting the 55555 password wrong screws you out of accessing that dungeon for the playthrough).
Sea Zone's gloomy atmosphere actually could've worked in it's favour if the other areas were all accessible (and fixing the scripting error that prevents you from accessing the Cheriza fight.)

As for Selenic Shadow, it's a tossup between Griedyr: Sun/Star (for visuals) or Darkness (for it's unique stage gimmick).

Of course the Entrance would be boring but practical, it's the first area! :P

(That isn't the Castle Gate, I mean.)

This'll take a while to decide which area to pick, so I'mma gonna tune my Angel Trumpeter with mah Exodia the Forbidden One and Synchro Summon me a Samurai Destroyer! (ATK: :3)
Wait what--
* duel system crashes spectacularly as a flower dragon emerges from it *

... How'd a FLOWER DRAGON get in there?! O_o

I'll pick just ONE of those areas, eventually. When I do, I'll be sure to let you know!

That's a fair point, yes. I don't expect you to pick areas right away. Also, it's probably a bit much at this stage but wouldn't it be cool if you could have all the main characters from other mods (i.e Evan O' Neill, Serenity Horton, Amariss Ritchers etc)

Okay. Sea Zone confirmed, and also... I'm thinking, also an all-new area using Grie'dyr: Star tileset, since Grie'dyr has one "room" per Serenthan element.

That leaves one area to be all original, as AK_XZChaos (or Ashlynn) chose the Myst Zone. But these will be new Myst Zone areas, since it's WAY larger than what is seen in LS. :p

Night Queen Kanonno LeBlanc Louisenbairn will be a character, too.

I hope to use 12 maps per Sector, including The Hub (Sector 0). I mean, that's ten Sectors and 120 maps.

Cave Editor may spit upon this idea, but who knows, maybe Booster's Lab can help too. :p

That reminds me of whenever I was working on my side project. I would look at the <WAI parts of the script and either try to halve the time or have the <WAI at the lowest number I could get.

My point is (and you already know this), you could make your areas with half or quarter the maps by simply resizing them to make them larger. If you think you can make it work in 12 maps, try doing in 6 or even 3 maps.

Also the Bloom Beast thread has been updated. :3
Title: Re: > TERMINUS _
Post by: Charlie on 18 November 2021, 19:43:58
... Wow, six or three maps...

If I tried THAT, then the Map System would be unusable in most areas :p
(The map won't load on too-large maps.)

You know those Metroidvania-styled maps?
I treat one square (the smallest size for a room) as 21x16 tiles.
So, Entrance TG of LS would be the exact... size......

...

Now I have an idea: that original area could resemble the maps from other works (Entrance TG), but won't be the same areas (so going down would, say, lead to The Hub or an entirely different map of that Sector, itself based on, for example, Top Floor XY or Reservoir L). The names would also be different, haha...

(That reminds me, still haven't found all the SotN secrets... hm.)

...

I'll be using the TSC+ hacks, with PHYS and TIMG, but no face pics. Instead, I'll use name boxes (TIMG helps for that, but NOT during boss fights, I've learned... so no boss names with the boss HP bar) then.

I suppose it's a matter of figuring out how much space you need and working with it.
...
..
Huh, I actually had a similar idea for a bonus level for my side project. Except the names of areas are the same and lead to different areas. Some NPCs are present and have different dialogue depending on who you can play as. Yes, it will possible for all characters to talk to NPC versions of themselves (if possible). There may also be some new bosses exclusive to the area. (Of course, it's not the main focus and I probably won't add it in.)

If you do go through with it, I'd love to see your take on it.

- 3: The Octagon (Hope of Shané)

- 7: Asterism of Solace (Original / Selenic Shadow; uses Star tileset)
- 8: The Null Nihility (Original)
- 9: Myst Zone (Lunar Shadow)

If I could have more Sectors?
Subterranean Desert (Into the Unknown), The Cursed Sword (Vion Ierra), and the Sacred Isles (Xyrinfe Shadow) would also be included, haha. :p

For what it's worth 9 areas (with several maps, counting any bosses) is a rather reasonable amount for the main game. If it were possible to include the other sectors, that's be great. If not, you've already got a layout for the game's levels.

Sector 0 should Link to 8 Sectors (but not Zelda to any of them :p ), with the last Sector entrance being hidden, I think...

May need help with tilesets for new areas, but I'll figure it out, haha. After all, I'm pretty sure I'm a flower dragon--

... Er... how do you add entities in BL, again?
(I forgot. ;-; )

[EDIT]
Nvm
Figured it out by randomly pressing buttons. Eventually reached Ctrl+I and voila~ :3
[/EDIT]

That said, it seems a maximum of 128 maps is possible, so I should be able to fit in the planned areas, haha.

[EDIT]
Added all maps from the title screen up to the Sector 4 maps. Not finished, mind.
So we now have gems like "TH: Empty Throne" (map names abbreviate the Sector names) or "OC: Central Cave" or "AC: Night Queen's Room" or "TO: Entombed in Repose" (new!), or "SZ: Excalibur's Shrine" (kinda new?).

I have a basic layout in mind for Sector 6 (The Legendary Tree; may rename to The Mythical Tree, not sure which sounds better), but the layouts for the other Sectors (5, 7, 8 and 9) currently elude me.
Sector 6 gets a "TLT: Great Tree" map, haha.

So I'm just listening to that "Escape from the Pyramid" song from Wario Land 4 while trying to come up with the layouts, haha.

Any ideas are welcome. I'll tell the anti-aircraft weapons to hold their fire (and ice). :p

Nice to know that you figured out how to place entities. Also I prefer "The Legendary Tree" over "The Mythical Tree". That said, if you need all the maps to have all the levels you want, then a boss rush mode might not happen. It can be done, though it requires some scripting in order to make it work properly (Kirby style isn't the only way to do it!)

Also will a Sound Test still be available in the Hub area or will that need to be sacrificed?

Eh, I may figure something out. ;p

As for The Legendary Tree, I think I'll have both it and The Mythical Tree as its official names.

Finally got the layouts for Sector 5, 8, and 9 done. Names, too.
Myst Zone: Blood Garden was once Myst Zone: Shining Garden, IIRC, so that's what'll be seen.

TNN has stuff like "Crisis of Existence" and "Hurt in the Heart".

AtD? Stuff like "Top Floor", "Toxic Sanctum", and "Save Point", so basically, LS-type names. :p

As for Asterism of Solace... I think I'd like you, King (2.0), to name the twelve maps. (I'll figure the layout out afterwards.)
Each map's name will have "AoS: " at the start, though, so that doesn't have to be included.
Plus too long names may have to be shortened, but I'm not sure on map name limits, haha...
AoS uses the Star tileset from Selenic Shadow, if that helps with the ideas.

Eh, I may figure something out. ;p

As for The Legendary Tree, I think I'll have both it and The Mythical Tree as its official names.

I'd be honoured to name all 12 maps, my liege. I just need to know what the Asterism of Solace is and what each room is so I can have a good idea of what to name them all. I suppose I could make them planet/astrological themed but I'll wait for info before making my decision.

Well... I haven't decided on the rooms yet, other than there being 12.

Room 1 links to Sector 0 (The Hub), though - that's all I've got.

Something like that?

Even the boss(es) are unknown.

As for the name, I looked for synonyms for "star" and found "asterism" as a type of star (the plane figure), and remembered that "Quantom of Solace" film and randomly combined the two into the name we have now. ^^;;;

A planetary/astrological theme could work~.

Okay.
My computer randomly rebooting itself earlier today has led to me losing progress on the sprites for Jillian's casual attire.
That's progress.
(In infuriating me. :p )

Meantime, I'm having second thoughts about this, but then I end up with third thoughts and next thing I know, I've wound up having thirteenth thoughts...

... I think the Map System should be orange.
Like. Orange in colour, not lemon. :p

The physics hack works nicely. About as well as expected.

The starting cutscene takes a FEW cues from Umbrageous Light, but it's got its own dialogue instead.

Jillian's text box is pink. Night Queen's, purple.

Not sure how to depict the StageImage icons... I plan on having the Teleporter used here, so far.

Think I'll poke the bunny.
* gets nibbled on *
... Dammit. -_-"

In that case, please back up your mod progress if you haven't done so already. I've been wondering, how do you give each character their own coloured text box?

Sorry, clarification time:
The name boxes are coloured (and are shown with the TIMG hack). Wasn't easy getting the coordinates for the images right, but I did it somehow.

Also, regarding the Asterism of Solace area: I found info I forgot about.
The place resembles maps from other areas, like LS(Z)'s Entrance TG, but with a Grie'dyr Star tileset and new names/layouts.
Don't know if that'll help with the naming, but it's something, right? :)

As for the back-up... I have to find the CDs first. How the Niflheim I misplaced them is anyone's guess... :-/

Twin-post because I've finished the basic layout for the area map images.

The maps themselves aren't done yet; I'll do that as I finish the in-game maps, haha.

Wish I could add two more Sectors to the mod. But I'm sure that 121 maps are more than enough, haha.

"What would these hypothetical Sectors be?"
Both would be completely original. The first would be named "Cibryll's Space", the second, "Scarlet Heights".

But I just put those ideas 'n' stuff in a text file, haha.

I should probably work on Jillian's casualwear, but I wanna play games and music... ;-;

The TIMG Hack? I've heard of TSC+ but that's about it. That said, if all the areas in Asterism of Solace are areas from other mods with new names/layouts, then that's something at least. For the Entrance TG area, Moonbase 52 as a placeholder name. Or Cynthia's Lament or Selene Stronghold? Or Moonly Rocks? I'll figure it out once I know about the other rooms.

..
Cibryll's Space. Is that a devroom or something else?
Title: Re: > TERMINUS _
Post by: Charlie on 25 November 2021, 15:07:32
Yeah, TIMG and PHYS are add-ons for TSC+, IIRC.

Thanks. :3
So that's 1 down, 11 to go.

... I know, why don't you pick three rooms from LS' castle (except Myst Zone or Entrance maps; no duplicate areas) and three rooms from one of my other past mods?
Just lemme know which rooms, and their AoS counterparts' names. Example,
(Using your names for the Entrance TG map for the example.)

Cibryll's Space... maybe it's a dev area, maybe not. :3
Maybe there's something cool at the CS: Terminus, maybe not. :3
Perhaps a boss, or not. :3

To be honest, I really wanna have a few rooms of the Asterism of Solace based on areas from Solar Shadow 2, if @AuroraDash is okay with it.

I'm sure he'd let you but even then I think you're better off playing the game yourself to get a better idea of which rooms you really want. And if it makes you feel any better, I still haven't gotten around to playing Solar Shadow 2 either. Solar Shadow is actually very short so you could easily play it if you wanted to.

Mahalo~. I can't see the planetary symbols, but I'll check Character Map in case those are there.

I'll just have to resist referring to "Uranus" as "Ouranos" as I usually do, though. :p

Right.
Three other areas I picked are:

So that leaves five maps undecided, and eight unnamed maps (the above three included with the undecided five).

Lunar Shadow R-2 would use the Tower D tileset for one of its own areas, which would be key in manipulating the Gate of Time area, incidentally... I should probably do that next, or something? :r

Confirmation that my last two areas for the Asterism of Solace will be:
I've decided the remaining three maps should be used as original rooms, but based on areas that haven't been seen in any mod (yet).
This way, all the maps for the Asterism of Solace should be able to connect, but I'll know for sure when I'm done making a basic layout.

I think Rings of Jupiter will be the first map of the Asterism of Solace, so going to the top-right exit goes to Sector 0 (The Hub).

Of course, the entire Sector 7 uses the tiles from Griedyr Star, so I'll see if I can bring in the gimmick puppet of strings--

Okay, I just found out I f**ked up a bit. -_-

So here's the area layout, currently:

   /  |        |
03 09        08

Er... my phone doesn't do monospace. -_-

01: Rings of Uranus ~ top-right (Hub), lower-left (02)
02: original ~ left (10), lower-left (03), lower-right (09), right (04), top-right (01)
03: (Cursed Warehouse T) ~ right (02)
04: (Flesh Zone: Gate) ~ left (02), right (05)
05: Meteor Hallway ~ left (04), right (06)
06: original ~ left (05), top-right (07), lower-right (08), right (11)
07: Cynthia's Lament ~ lower-left (06)
08: Waters of Mars ~ top-left (06)
09: (Origin Cave: Cursed Gateway) ~ up (02), down (01; one-way)
10: (Cirno Town) ~ right (02)
11: (Christmas Town) ~ left (06), right (12)
12: Uranus Cavern ~ left (11)

I hope this makes the layout a bit clearer, else I'll have to make some bizarre pic, haha. :p

So if I've got this right, Rings of Uranus leads into an original area. This area is connected to Rings of Uranus, Cirno Town, Flesh Zone: Gate, Cursed Warehouse T and Origin Cave: Cursed Gateway (which leads to Rings of Uranus).

Flesh Zone connects to Meteor Hallway, an original area and then Christmas Town. Christmas Town is then connected to Waters of Mars, Uranus Cavern, Cynthia's Lament and an original area.

I appreciate the complexity and I'm sure the Asterism of Solace will be one of the more memorable areas in this project.

That said, I'm cutting the inaccessible areas (Christmas Town has a huge inaccessible area).

Currently, only 01, 05, 07, 08, and 12 have official names, which adds up to a Rank 33 Xyz Monster-- wait, wha?
But seriously, I can't wait to see the remaining maps' names. :3

* Cibryll is giddy with anticipation! *
* Malice Striker's Sp. Atk fell to 0! *
* Malevolency Fang's Intellect fell to 0! *
* Immortora's Hunger fell to 0! *
* Muvrebordt's Cautiousness fell to 0! *
* Hotaru's Air fell to 0! *
* Hotaru fainted! *
* Cibryll gained 5 EXP! *
* Cibryll levels down! (26 -> -4) *

Wait what negative levels-- am I a Dark Synchro Monster now?! D:

...... Oh right. I finally made a rough map of the entire world of Terminus, including what Sectors X and Y would've been like. One problem: the file size is too large for my phone. :p

Cibryll's Space would have a lot of endless corridors, while the Scarlet Heights would have a staircase, and would be accessed from "Myst Zone: Valkyrie Graveyard". (No, it's not where they're buried. That's where they were asphyxiated to death, knowingly or not. Humans are okay there, though.)

Man... I think Way Big, but thankfully, I can't turn into one :p

Ah, that's a shame. Then again, filesizes can be a real pain sometimes. Cibryll's Space having endless corridors could be interesting. Would Kim Ethenarch show up there? (Probably not). Also more Myst Zone lore sounds nice.

Myst Zone pulled a La-Mulana and is split into two sections: the Front (some areas seen in LS) and the Back (none of those areas have been seen yet).

The Shining/Blood Garden is in the Front, while its counterpart is the Corrupt Garden. (No, not the Oil Garden. :p )

...

I'll see if I can make them rough maps smaller. Like, one per sector.
Though it'll take some time, at this rate a 126x80 tile map in Booster's Lab is slowing things down to "lagging" levels. So Origin Cave: Central Cave will take a while. :-/

Not sure if it's an issue on my end, or an issue with the version of BL I'm using.

This oughta be interesting. Will Shiori be the only boss or will Myst Zone have multiple bosses now? Also will anything be explained about Nexash?
Title: Re: > TERMINUS _
Post by: Charlie on 28 November 2021, 17:11:00
Uhhh...

I haven't thought as far yet.
Who knows, maybe we'll get to see Shiori as a little girl.

The only returning Myst Zone maps are Entry to Demise and Blood Garden (as the Shining Garden).
Who knows, maybe one day, we'll get a Myst Zone-only work, starring our mysterious Shiori Shauntal as the protagonist.

So, we have:
(Front) Shining Garden; House; Inferno Passage; Emeraldsand Beach; Tainted Shipwreck; Entry to Demise
(Back) Valkyrie Graveyard; Corrupted Garden; Spiral Hell; Slumber of Life; Exit of Fate; Nonexistence

Six maps for the front, six maps for the back.

Is there a middle?
...
......
.........
You know...
I never thought about that. :o
Will I ever find a harmonious cat to play the banjo?
...
But seriously, it just occurred to me that the Myst Zone could have a "middle"... but I've already decided upon the layout, so...

There would be several sectors more (oh, at least 39 + 6 lettered Sectors U to Z, currently) with 32 maps each.

But hey, just so long as I have some place to, well, type my ideas in, right?

Sectors new to TERMINUS TRUE include: Forgotten Inferno (UL), Castle Genesis (LS Advance; lost to motherboarding vampires), Datascape, Sacred Isles (Xyrinfe Shadow), areas from other projects, Red Hell (AS), Gate of Time (LSR-2, complete with the time gimmick), Deadfall Chasm (cut area from LSZ), Sky Maze (SCS), Chaos Fairy (supposed to be a Sonic Advance 3 reference; OLVA), Sacred Grounds (SotS), Canal of Incipience (LS Ruin of Solace), The Cursed Sword (Vion Ierra), Divination Town (from an ancient unreleased mod of mine from before 2012!), and Subterranean Desert (ItU).

Made a back-up on the heart drive...

Terminus has about 144 maps added by BL...
CE has not broken it once...

Looks like adding/copying maps in CE is the issue... but editing them is safe...

Opened two instances of CE, one for Terminus... the other for Umbrageous Light or other mods whose areas will appear...

Charlie's finished mod... is technically poorly-executed... :-b

(Gives a menu listing main course: Grie'dyr.)

Would you like your Grie'dyr with a side of 25 elements or 40...?
Good to know. 144 maps, wow. This oughta be interesting. So you can edit the maps with no problems but the problem is adding new maps and copying them over. OK, that's something at least.

Wait, so Umbrageous Light and the other mods might still exist then?

Minor bug: after starting the game, you have to reload to continue.

Why? Invisible character (SMC and TRA don't help) can't move.

Kinda liking it, though. :p

Thank goodness for that. With that many maps, perhaps you could add all the levels you intended to add originally?

Ooh, an invisible character. I can see that one being popular with those wanting a real challenge. Surely this invisible character would take up their own space in TERMINUS's MyChar file?

As in, when you start the game, you are invisible AND immobile. All you can do is... look at the map (right now) or reload a save game (I posted a shortened script at the CSTSF; the game saves after some questions).

When I added <LDP to the script (before TRA) as a test, event 210 doesn't play, BUT Jillian's visible and mobile.

So the screen goes blue and you can't see anything? Would it have anything to do with the <FAI/<FAO?

You can see the map (and other entities like the save point and water drops), so not the Fades.

Besides, I dealt with some Fade Spirits recently, and they vowed never to trouble me. :p

So no <FAI/<FAO problem? Good. You could look through your script and try removing or adding things. Most of the time would be spent testing out the same areas over and over to make sure your scripts do what they're supposed to be doing.

Another snag: Paint.NET won't work on my PC, and I can't download it with my other phone.

All Sectors in Terminus (and its sister project Origin) have 12 maps. Sector 7 in Terminus is still lacking in map names, haha... but seven missing map names means it's probably gonna be a lucky Sector :p

I also have a puzzle idea involving Pendulum Scales. Why? Not sure. I just like Yu-Gi-Oh! that much, I guess. :3

Oh yeah, Jillian's summer outfit is finished (thanks, RKS). That's something.

You use Paint.NET? I only use MS Paint for editing sprites (and Photoshop if I want to add transperency or other effects to them); though hopefully by the time I get to developing my own games, I'll be using Aesprite as well.

Sector 7 seems to be finished, I take it? As for the puzzles, I say go for it.
Title: Re: > TERMINUS _

I use Paint.NET for the stuff I do'nt feel like using MS Paint for. :p
I mean. If you quickly wanna change an entire tileset's colour without doing it by hand, Paint.NET is useful for that.

Or, as I'd use it, to quickly recolour HAZMAT suits and to darken tiles (like backgrounds).
Those background tiles in LS? Most of those that have a "solid" form, were given darker forms using Paint.NET. Like "PrtHaelli2" (pillars and blocks), or "PrtBlack" (blocks, IIRC).
Same method was used to make (or recolour) some backgrounds (like "bkEntrance").

MS Paint remains my number 1 choice, though. :p

In regards to the sector logos, I could try to do something like that though because I have no access to the mod itself, I have no references to use. I'm sure whatever you come up with will be useful for the purpose it serves.

Asterism of Solace uses the Griedyr Star tileset, Origin Cave uses the First Cave (CS) tileset, Sea Zone uses the same tileset as in LS.

Cibryll's Space uses a mix of PrtAlmond (using PrtOside and PrtJail colours) and PrtOside (using PrtAlmond colours).
That one CSTSF thread inspired that tileset combo :p

(Yes, that's all in one tileset. No, I haven't figured out the tilesets for the other Sectors yet, though Myst Zone's shouldn't be TOO hard...)

The protagonist of "Origin" will be named Ronald Alistair Potgieter. Based loosely on Dad, like Jillian Percival is based on Mom.

Both appear in Harmonia, too. :p

About the size of bkFog or bkMoon (they'll show up full-screen, in other words, width 320, height 240).

Practicing and playing around with ideas and concepts are fine for now, though - I mean, not like the maps are finished yet :p
Hopefully, when the maps are done, I can add the TRA stuff to allow full exploration, and then release that as a demo for a select few (including all Lunar Tierce Knights).

Working on my space's tileset. Missing tiles, that sort of deal.

Linking maps is important and also making sure they're linked properly. Sequence break as much as you like, you're testing each part of the mod to make sure it works properly.

Title: Re: > ORIGIN://TERMINUS _

The intent is that the Simplified form is for those who don't want the overly large room.
So if a certain flag is set, instead of going to "TH: Corridor DR" from "OC: Chamber", you go to a small map with all eight exits on-screen (rather than off-screen).

"The Hub" is 21x16 tiles.
"TH: Connexion Link", the central room, is 63x48 tiles.

...

Anyway, added Sector S ("Th3 Gr1D") with a La-Mulana-based tileset, and found that it gets a "Failure to load stage" error. (You'd start there instead, then go to Origin Cave through this one-way gate, after setting some "options".)

Well, nothing wrong with having Dummied Out What Could Have Beens, haha. :p

Sector S has this weird theme, so it may be painful to read if you see "TG: 0r1G1n L1nK" or "TG: $PL1T GaT3". But hey, it's a messy place, so. :3

That's fair. I also like the digital code speak used for the stage names. Real dedication to the digital theme you've got there. Hopefully you can get Sector S working, just keep looking through the scripts/entities and you might find the problem.

I mean, a total of 181 maps when the maximum is possibly around 127?

Well, now I can find out what the limit truly is. :p

Even with The Grid (it's the proper name in normal-speak) unusable, I finished all 12 maps (and have a map outline for 32 maps).

... I'm hungry.
* looks expectantly at a flower dragon, who then proceeds to eat Cibryll *
...... I guess fruit and vegetables might not grow on flower dragons then? I'm confused. T_T
Hopefully that La Muluna tileset will be put to good use (I still like that one for the Clock Tower/True Azehr fight in LS). Congratulations on getting the maps finished (and also completing the outlines).

Perhaps.
I'm still figuring out what would make a good tileset for Sectors 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, some parts of 9, 25, Q, and Y (though Y is as scarlet as its name suggests).

Who knows, maybe a tileset will fall out of the sky and--

Hogbot: Destroy all organics

* Hogbot fires a Bazooka at Cibryll, sending her into the murky depths of Niflheim as "Muspell and Niflheim" plays in the foreground *

T_T

Myst Zone's returning areas will retain their old tilesets except for Blood Garden (which is Shining Garden here and thus gets a palette swap - and less water).

So will Myst Zone use white, gold and silver as it's colour palette? Also with the others, it's a matter of building your tileset around the theme of each sector.

Who knows.

I tend to follow my own head, haha.
I remember making a New Super Mario Bros. tileset (using tiles from the game, even) for LSR-2's "Dark Throne" area. Not the best idea. I mean, this ain't Distorted Travesty! (Man, that Death boss is HARD.)
Mental Hive... tried to give it a hexagonal pattern but didn't come out very well. :s

That would've been cool to see. Hold up, if Origin/Terminus are computer themed then I suppose having tilesets referencing other games could work. I love hexagonal patterns. There's something so cool, futuristic and high tech about them.
Oh look, I made one right now:

... Y'know, you're right. This project's in a digital world, and Th3 Gr1D uses a La-Mulana tileset mash-up, so... yeah.
Referencing away~!

And for the final touch, FLY AWAYYYYYYYYYYYY!

My hexagon. ;-; I obtained these wings but at what cost? At what cost?

Nah but seriously, it'd be fun to see you and RKS try out different styles.

Wow, really? I always though I'd be Bloom Seymour minus the happy facade and more dark/depressive.
So Ray is also talented as well? So does she do pixel art, or just the scripting? Losing him must've hit you real hard, even in spite of everything he did.

Before last year January, black.

Now? Sky blue. Though my outfit would have evening gloves, thigh-highs (over tights) and a gas mask/helmet combo. :p

I'd use twin daggers and a CAT... mecha or something? Meow~! :3

Go, go, Radish Rangers--

* record scratch *

Wait, wasn't Ichigo and Firion's voice actor a Power Ranger? O_O

I call dibs on the Red Ranger (metallic red specifically). If not red, then Magenta or Vermilion Ranger it is then. Cyberspace themed armour, tron lines optional.

I take it you mean their English voice actor? According to Wikipedia, Johnny Yong Bosch was the second MMPR Black Ranger and the Green Ranger in Zeo/Turbo. He also had a guest appearance in the Operation Overdrive episode Once a Ranger as well.

T_T

Yeah, I did mean the voice actors, haha.
Hard to play as Firion without expecting him to say "Bankai!" or "Getsugatensho!" or such.

I want to see Firion vs Ichigo Kurosaki.
(Never gonna happen, unless a sudden crossover thing happens.)

Shades of red, yes but there's something about metallic red I like the look of. Also anything new about the actual ORIGIN/TERMINUS projects?

Nope. :(
I've focused more on ideas for my other projects (Harmonia VIII) and getting more games to play.

Like the LiEat trilogy, Hedgewars (v1.0.0) or games to emulate.

I don't see it as a bad thing, it's better than being burnt out over a single project. I hope you have fun with the games you've picked.

Hello, this is Minister Cibryll from the Department of Redundancy Department, calling with a report.
Due to writer's block (and artist's block and whatever other blockheaded blocks), I'll be taking time off from these projects.
Moreover, the Krieket Cricket Bloom Beast have attempted an invasion, and the only way to beat them is... by beating them in a cricket match. ("Krieket" is Afrikaans for the cricket sport, while "kriek" is Afrikaans for the insect.)
So yeah, we're gonna have a time so bad, Sans would laugh out louder than a Loudred.

If it weren't for the fact that all the levels in Origin/Terminus have been decided, I'd definitely suggest an area which is a church made up of organic material and human organs.

Sounds like a Malformed dungeon idea to me.
Except, instead of a church, it's an entire city or town.

Of course, the Malformed are first seen in Harmonia VIII, so far. Jillian's 17 then, so TERMINUS would be two years after (Jillian's 19 in TERMINUS).

Of course, I'm unsure whether to connect Harmonia with ORIGIN and TERMINUS alike, being that they're sorta a Cibryll's Best kinda deal... perhaps it could be but a fleeting dream, or a hallucination brought about by another Malformed... or any other possible ideas that comes to mind. Senbonzakura's awesome. Wait what does that have to do with anything?

Complete with appropriate enemies? As for connections, keep them separate otherwise you're keeping track of a lot of things. If you really have to, have them in as cameos.
