Title: The Taints of the Valkyries
Post by: Bloom Leigh Seymour on 31 August 2019, 15:01:17
Better name - we may have non-Horton Valkyries, after all.

Purity Taint: only cloned Valkyries with pure hearts get this; they have a 0.56% chance of having this Taint variation. No idea why.

They can track other Valkyries and also dominance of souls (in other words: Castlevania character Soma Cruz's power).

Repose Horton, clone of Serenity, has this Taint and it can be passed down to her kids, apparently.

Oh, Kim's added more.

Winged Taint:
- Allows a Valkyrie the premature usage of their wings, ignoring the usual conditions.
- These wings resemble those of a bat.
- The first Valkyrie with this Taint was not a Newerthan, BUT was male. (Male Valkyries confirmed!!?)

... no idea?

Venoxious Taint:
- The Valkyrie can't be killed by biological/chemical agents, but will acquire total immunity to an agent after 4 minutes of exposure (during which they are affected by those - they suffer still).

Tranquility (later Tranquility Asphyxia Byrde) has this Taint, apparently.

Spectral Taint:
- Requires elemental affinity to Spirit.
- Can always see invisible; can pass through solid objects; can turn into ghost form (physical attacks are useless; vulnerable to magical attacks - getting hit with one knocks them into physical form).

Evelyn Horton (born 2019) has this Taint variation.

Shadowlust Taint:
- Requires Shadow affinity.
- Better shadow manipulation; can make shadow copies of anyone their shadows are connected to; can sink into shadows.
- Powers require shadows, to be used. Without shadows, no powers can be used - if hiding in shadows they get forced out when the shadows are taken away...

Terri Horton has this Taint.

Whimsical Taint:
- Needs Fey elemental affinity.
- Remember Cave Story's Whimsical Star? This creates SEVEN of those stars, for use how the Valkyrie sees fit. Slightly amplifies magical powers.

Ilina Horton gets this after some Elemental Rebellion Incident, though.

There's also a Scarburst Taint in the newer notes, which Lavitka Horton's mother (Rosa Chimaera Horton) had.

It's... too horrific. It's like four paragraphs of HORROR there.

Basically, it involves scars! But if you guys really want to know about it... I'll post its info later on.

Just don't blame me for any nightmares. Blame Kim; she made it.

Eh, my former self has seen worse Bloom, especially during his High School days. But yeah, please post it. It may contain interesting Lunar Shadow Lore.

Okay...

As soon as the phone's battery is fully charged, I'll do that.

But that Hanako girl Ariana used as an avatar somewhere's really super lucky though. >_<
It's so dreadful, that Scarburst Taint.

Aw. I remember Ariana's Hanako avatar and how cute it was. You Seymours have always had a knack for cute girl avatars.
Though I could only wonder how Hanako would have turned out if Colonel Volgin had raised her.

Scarburst Taint:
- One side of the Valkyrie's body is permanently scarred, entirely.
- Scarburst Taint Valkyries are immune to its effects.
- In 1836, it was found that ocean pearl jewellery provides immunity to this Taint's powers.
- The Valkyrie's skin being covered up also prevents its effects from affecting anyone who comes into contact.

- Requires skin contact (like a slap). Works only on living beings. The Valkyrie can scar anyone with just a touch, willingly or otherwise.
- When scarred in this way, the Valkyrie can sense their presence at all times.
- The parts affected by the scar can be controlled by the Valkyrie, as well. So if a hand was scarred, it could kill the person if the Valkyrie wants it to.

- Scars will "burst" when any attempts are made to magically treat them, spreading the scars on the scarred people only. Non-magical treatment does NOT do this.
- When pregnant, the Valkyrie can't use these powers for the duration thereof, or twice the length after the child(ren)'s birth.

Rosa Chimaera Horton has this Scarburst Taint.

So basically Rosa can infect people with scars (kinda like Herpes) and can either kill that person or stalk them. The scars also spread across the body like a plague. Huh. I suppose that Rosa was treated horribly for having this power.

I guess?
I'm more concerned about the middle name.
"Chimaera".
Who names their kid that?

Also, Lavitka Horton is her daughter, though she had an Eternal Double Taint (having NO eyes for the rest of your life AND having the same kind of sight as Valerie is scary, especially as the only known mortal so far to have FIVE elemental affinities) and her father died.

Talk about a crazy world.

Maybe Rosa was actually a end result of experimentation with the Horton Taint? I mean, I doubt all of those variations were natural...

I suppose, if Kim agrees with it being canon. Besides, I can imagine that the Castle Masters must have tried experimenting with the Horton Taint. Probably explains why Aidan abducted Serenity's mom and stuffed her in a tank.

Like a male Valkyrie in the next century.

What if the Blight is worse than the Taint?
Maybe they're the same thing, except the Taint isn't used to corrupt people? Maybe the Blight of the Valkyries was created by a previous Castle Master in order to take over Newerth? Perhaps Aidan Flamberge was trying to recreate the Blight?

Angelic Taint:
- Exclusive to pure-of-heart Valkyries.
- Adds Light affinity, in addition to natural affinities.
- Adds "halo" - really a Light-energy chakram controlled by the wielder.
- Wings, once usable, resemble those of an angel.
- Yuri Shikinami (no last name), a Sage of planet Alcor, has this Taint.

This is one I made today!

Doubt it - for one thing, Kim'd have to know about Yuri.
(Her appearance is kinda based on the appearance of someone's avatar, though.)

Also, Alcor is planet 2009.
Pandyose II is planet 0086.

So... that's a huge gap to traverse and all. :s

Well, chances are Kim does know. She lurks around this place, I'm sure and you'll probably tell her anyway.

Does Eleanor have an avatar of a girl with a green... hair decoration thing?

Also, you could ask Kim, when you can, if she knows 'bout the Angelic Taint or the new planets that've been made here...

No but Rosalind does (and it took me to comb through every female member to find the answer), so it's probably based off her.

Also, I'll be sure to send your question to Kim. :3

I think the Revival Taint needs a serious nerf.
Combined with the Eternal Taint, a Horton is basically immortal to everything that falls under "unnatural causes".

What if an evil Horton has both? Can they be stopped? I do not see how...

Instead of being Kim's personal jackal Bloom, couldn't you just tell her this yourself?
Kim's never really been known for balancing our her ideas, let alone thinking through her lore in the long term. I mean, seriously she claimed that if Serenity Horton was never born, Aidan would succeeded in poisoning Newerth despite the fact that the Lunar Shadow Project has several other heroes who could have taken on the Castle Master.

So yeah, these Taints would make little sense in the long run, unless Kim remakes the entirety of Lunar Shadow Project in GameMaker.

For those who don't know what IllinaFan01 is talking about, here's the original thread for reference: (http://lunarshadowcs.createaforum.com/theories/family-trees-(spoilers)/msg3797/#msg3797)
